    Last night was windy and overcast, yet still strangely bright. It was after midnight yet I wanted to be out, I'd bring the shotgun & torch and leave the extra weight at home. So I called from my usual spot in the neighbours field near my farm, nothing showed. I moved with the wind upwards towards higher ground, both to get a better view over the land below and to keep the wind in my favour.     I'm surprised at the emotive language you're using SH. I'd wager than far, far more vigilantes use weapons like baseball bats than firearms. Also, I'd like to say that a lot of target shooters here in the Republic had their sport denied to them, at considerable cost to them, when one particular narrow minded minister labeled handguns (sorry, Glocks, as ALL handguns are Glocks as we know..............) dangerous.     It would be open to abuse though. Say we had a temperamental poster who posts a thread, then get's upset as s/he's proven wrong, so deletes the thread out of spite. (Not that that would happen )

    The "what if he shot a kid" argument is a bit hysterical. What if he was a father and the muggers kill him then? No more Daddy because he's not allowed to defend his life as someone wanted the $20 in his pocket. As it stands, law abiding people can have guns for sporting uses. Criminals have guns for illegal uses. The LAW doesn't stop criminals having them, so what use is that? Criminals break the law, that's what they do!     Completely right. How many threads on here go along the lines "The f*****g cops won't do f*****g nothing mate". The Yanks have home invasion etc sorted out a lot better than this side of the world, where the criminals have guns and the legal gun owners are made feel like criminals!

    I wouldn't use the dowels, or wood at all aside from the roof. The problem I see with dowels is compared to mesh or wire you're going to be blocking a lot of the view of the captive bird for wild birds. Defeats the purpose a little in my mind. I cut 2"x2" weldmesh to size and cable tie it all together, just use some ply as the roof and works well, plus it's light weight, galvanised, collapsible if you really need that, and won't rot.

    Just looking at the Shooting forum: Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns & Airgunners, Spring & Precharged are busy forums leave as they are. The airgun subforums seem to be getting use at almost 1,300 topics in one and 730 in the other. Reloading, Optics, Ammunition & Accessories doesn't need any of it's subforums IMO if you go in and look at the usage of those subforums. In Shooting Sports I'd merge all the subforums there with the main forum, I'd also merge Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management & Shooting Opportunities with it and possibly Pigeon Shootin

    Me being a moderator on boards has sfa to do with THL in fairness. complaining about the layout of a board when a board you put your name to is near impossible to navigate is a bit hypocritical dont you think? You're complaining, I'm suggesting. It's not hypocrisy as I was against a new forum on there in the past ten days, which you should know if you know so much? Also for the same reasons. I don't own boards so what influence you believe I have on that site is your own making. If you're looking for a fight, look elsewhere, goodnight.

    Not sure Ian, when there were less forums, they seemed much livelier IMO. Now that there are many forums, it gives off the impression of being somewhat stagnant. I don't know about the usage statistics or membership, just saying what I see.

    No, I'd understand not releasing grey squirrels/mink etc as they'd be classed as alien invasive species I'm sure. Just solely concerned with foxes ATM Not looking good so far lol

    Point of debate elsewhere. I need to know if it's illegal to relocate, or release after treatment/rescue foxes in the UK? I need proper references for this which I can link to, not the "It is bescause it's stupid" argument

    I didn't I took a photo using the highest resolution on the camera, then cropped those sections out of two larger photos using Paint.net Saltire? I had to Google that, you mean in the clouds? One is from a Jet heading West, probably out of Shannon airport
