Some of the stuff I have been reading about standard modern agriculture is howling ! Over here the farm people Teagsc were recommending spraying off with round up a week before cutting silage, them cutting and bailing as normal before re-seeding ! So basically feeding silage with a nice glyphosate salad dressing ! f***ing unbelievable !......then us idiots eat that beef or drink that milk !
-
Been finding some good podcasts and groups on FB with some really interesting stuff.....well worth a listen or looking at if you have an interest in such things. Anyone else looking at this type of stuff?
-
They wouldn’t make the same programme about blacks ! But people who are white, yeah, crack on !
-
Wishing you all the best mate.
-
Does it!.....well I never knew that mate. I like veal myself and don’t understand why it’s not more popular
-
It’s a crying shame they don’t push rose veal more in the UK or Ireland, thousands of perfectly healthy calves culled every year....it’s a waste of good meat. I wouldn’t mind, but you can rear them free range cheap as chips
-
Don’t know yet mate, may be veal, may be beef or may keep and breed them if some decent dexter short legs don’t come up. Ideally I want to keep small breed dexter or I’d like to get a couple of low line and breed them myself but like most things, when you are looking it’s never that easy......I suppose they will just happen along by accident at some point.

He is a bit of shit just like all the other bits of shit......f**k him !
-
Nice that mate, fair play to you.?
-
I gave €135 each for those mate, so cheap really if you think about it. Like most things, different factors = different prices
-
Didn’t know that mate, they say every day is a school day.
-
I had them but they were a b*****d to milk !
-
That sounds like a tidy little idea mate, strange but the simplest things are the things you never think of. Cheers pal
-
He has been spending plenty of time in his shed so he probably dont have any fingers left to type with ! Lol
-
I probably will end up buying a few mate but only once I have a few more main things in place, pheasants would be more a hobby if you get my drift
-
Exactly the same as that mate, you are spot on.
-
Or motivation mate.....genuinely if they see 1 pheasant in a hedge row there are texts flying about in a group like they have seen Elvis ! I was a member of one for a year and f****d it off because they were all jokers !
-
Ireland should be lifting with tackle considering how rural the vast majority of it is, but it isn’t because f**k all is done to promote or rear game, the red tape is bollocks and nobody can be arsed ! Crying fecking shame really !
-
The shame is mate there is plenty of ground that would lend itself to something like pheasant shooting, nice woods sitting above valleys that would present birds really well, plenty of water that you could feed for ducks.....but as has been said it’s spread out. Now, the local gun club would have permission over all this in an area but they just ain’t interested in raising a few birds, feeding a few ponds and having a few days a season as well as the pest control that would inevitably go with it. They would rather wander up a lane, blast a couple of things and go home or shoot clays

I used to have permission over a few small farms in England and none of them was smaller than 600 acres, a keeper mate ran 3000 acres and used to let me have a run in there and another pal who still gets on here now and again had the permission over a chunk of the Cotswolds 18 miles x 24 miles in size ! There’s nothing like that here ! Lol
-
Yep, pretty much same as that mate.....however there’s isn’t many 500 acre farms round me, 140 would be considered gigantic ! Lol
-
You’d think so mate wouldn’t you, but because of how land is divided up over here and because of the claims/insurance culture it just would be a non starter.....20 acres may be owned by 4 different farmers, then they don’t want liability for anyone coming on their land etc etc.....you can see how it gets complicated quickly.

What I probably didn’t explain very well is that where me and Jetro live there is hardly any wild game about, it’s not like the UK where there are keepered estates and private shoots putting birds down or the abundance of deer, rabbits and pigeons crawling out of every hedge row......it’s just not like that. Compared to the UK these things are practically non existent. To be fair, the “gun clubs” (every area has one) are a bunch of tossers too......they shoot at anything like Elmer Fudd and replenish nothing.......they would rather buy clay traps than rear 50 or 100 birds. You h
