I used to have a fair bit of local permission mate, never had a written letter or had to call beforehand or any of that, had the old bill arrive a couple of times and it was just a matter of going over to them and saying “I control the rabbits in here for so & so” and they would be “Ok” and f**k off…..from what I can see of it, it ain’t going to be like that now. The Minister for Rural Affairs in 2001: . They could get away with it by claiming that their purpose was legitimate pest control. The 1992 Act reversed the burden of proof, so that anyone trespassing on land and having with him the tools or implements for digging out a badger had to prove that he was not committing that offence.
