Not many of us did mate, I think we have spoken about the miners strike before and I said then that I was naive enough to just believe the narrative that you were just “commies”…..back then in my young head before age had made me wise enough to look harder and consider more, the reds were the enemy and that was good enough. The real killer is that we are massively outnumbered by “our own” people who think all of this is a perfectly brilliant idea or who don’t have the guts to say it isn’t….either way, same result. I won’t be offended by that, it’s a mindset I carried myself once so I understand it mate. I think you have to take into account that you come from communities where tribalism and loyalty to your community is still very much an every day thing and has been at the forefront of your whole life, wether consciously or subconsciously, so you are starting from a different point to say a lad like me from London or anyone from most towns in mainland Britain…..that may be way off the mark but it’s what I think. My pal has been in Canada for around 12 years, maybe a bit longer. He has had it tough through one thing and another but he wouldn’t come back for all the tea in China. He knows his kids are better off, he ticks by working the oil sands and doing construction….always busy enough although it’s all relative because rent is expensive where he lives. I completely agree with all that mate and it’s an interesting conversation because, let’s think about it…..if you applied not funding these people to your daily life and was rigid about it you’d run out of diesel in a week and never fill your motor again. You’d never fill a prescription if you were ill and needed something from the chemist. You wouldn’t post a parcel at the post office or buy a newspaper in the morning (no loss ! One look (and listen) to the fireworks display/commentary in London last night should clue everyone up that the people who ain’t wanted is us !! All you say makes sense if we were actually the ones that mattered but we ain’t ! The British bloke no longer matters in his own land beyond whatever the government can fleece him for……at the time I left I knew as an Englishman in England I meant less than the shit on governments (and many of my fellows countryman’s) shoe ! This won’t get changed because you don’t matter !

Makes total sense to give him a new contract to be fair mate, if we are in a good position and people are still coming through the turnstile prepared to watch their team have the ball for 20 minutes a game as long as the result is right then it makes no sense to change. You can’t legislate for stupid mate which is what we do now and government make a tidy penny out of it. What happened to “if you force someone to hurt themselves you get sued ?” Like most things there is already a deterrent, don’t need a whole industry designed to tell you not to and then just using the same deterrent that was always there if you do. It’s like that scene in that film with Brad Pitt where the Bruce Lee character says “if I accidentally kill you I go to jail” and Brad Pitt says “If anyone kills anyone accidentally they go to jail….it’s called manslaughter”

From what I’ve seen of it, there are more Paki “traffic Marshall’s” on building sites in London than actually real workers, all stood round scratching their dirty arseholes and making everyone’s life a misery.
