  1. I think I’ve told this before but me and my pal was there one Saturday afternoon, my pal was putting on his best “mockney” Essex accent. Couple of other blokes there in a Rolls Royce !! ( just strangers). My pal starts in with: ”Awight lads, ow iz ol Tubby these days” to the lads behind the ramp. Im cringing and laughing at the same time and me and the two strangers are eyeballing each other & grinning because it’s all so chronic but funny. My pal carries on: ”Luv a bit of jellied eels me, ows he doing my old pal Tubby” The lad behind the ramp with the b
  2. You are the sites Dalai Lama ! Lol
  3. Wow !!!…..my post wasn’t meant to be full of insults, I thought it was a discussion. You have obviously completely misinterpreted the tone of my reply’s which is easily done in the written word. If I have hurt your feelings as much as I obviously have then I apologise. Maybe on reflection I should have worded it “any school governor could have done something about that” rather than “you as a school governor could have done something about”……I meant the same but I can see how it can be taken completely differently. However, you diatribe betrays your true perception of m
  4. Funny though…..I live for nonsense like that at football ! Lol
  5. In the south: Liquor on your pie & mash, NOT gravy ! Fish & Chips come WITHOUT mushy peas ! Young southerners never used to sport that barely visible tash that looks like a stiff breeze would blow it off No business close for lunch Rest of the British isles: You only get spice bags from the chinky in Ireland They put anything in a pie in Scotland ! In Sunderland it’s 1983 People are friendlier as you go further north You hunt packs of dogs on foot in the fell & hill country as opposed to mounted in the south for fox, but you hunt
  6. More like John Merrick ! Lol
  7. I started out with f**k all and I still have most of it left ! Lol
  8. Of course everyone can’t a achieve the same, you ain’t going to win the Olympic 100m if you have one leg…..but you can find quality and value and achieve things your background may not have set you up for in something…..nobody it putting a barrier in your way to do that, fact.
  9. Not everyone does because not everyone can, the world would cease to function if everyone was a boss.
  10. Again, totally agree. But Jukel suggested that only “toffs” have these opportunities which is just plain not true. I sold a bit of kit Aherns who had an office/yard in Crow Lane, Romford. The old man started the firm, basically just a normal oik who earned all his money out of other peoples rubbish. A dealer boots and braces kind of chap, him and his wife booked themselves the best cabin on the QE2 for a cruise……nobody was asking him if his mum and dad was lords.
  11. And more importantly the advice and attitude of dad.
  12. Totally agree mate but the finance anyone can do if they stash the dough away to do it.
  13. I agree, that’s completely how it is….but nothing is physically holding them back is it ? You seem a well travelled bloke and I may be wrong, but I’m guessing your parents don’t own 38,000 acres in Scotland and have dinner with Prince Charles…..you just had broader horizons. But is anyone stopping them Purely because they don’t come from wealth ?
  14. Fair play mate, everyone has to prioritise it just depends what on imho mate.
  15. Understood mate, but that’s not a class thing is it….that’s a choice you made. You could have not had a mortgage and tucked your few quid away and gone and done any of that in reality, you just chose to do something else. Nobody said you couldn’t did they, you did what you wanted to do. I was the same, just out grafting but no mortgage, just wanking my money up the wall every week like millions of other lads because we didn’t know anything else, our horizons wasn’t that big. When you came out of state comp you went to work, that’s what you did. But if I’d had
  16. I honestly don’t know but they all seemed to be working at something, agricultural contracting, stone walling, equestrian, working in a shop !…….and my point was, this stuff is available to anyone and it is.
  17. I used to go up and visit a friend of mine who was on this forum, younger than me and his circle of friend were all from what most would class “well to do” familys, been to school and knocked about with Prince Harry and all that caper. You couldn’t have wished to meet a nicer group of lads, polite, well spoken, no airs and graces but the difference was their sense of what the world could offer……their horizons were just bigger ! In our little evening chats in the pubs they were talking about everything they had done from cycling the alps, working on ranches in Australia, attending art
  18. Historically speaking “service” spoke to something higher than yourself, in this instance the “nation”……it’s why people felt part of and connected to the land beneath their feet. As we have diluted and destroyed and done away with that to reach the more socialist model of Britain we see today so you see generations (as clearly seen in this thread) who don’t feel invested in the nation because the nation has been destroyed. What wrong with teaching kids confidence ?…..and as a former school governor you could have changed the “teaching kids to shut up and be quiet” bit if you had
  19. I so hope it’s Gerrard and he makes a complete bollocks of the job ! Lol
  20. Two words……Steven Gerard ! Lol
  21. What I would say is, create an email chain so it’s all there in black and white. You can then forward it to Trading standards and in return forward their response to the retailer…..forward any response you get from him to them as well and if possible quote the relevant passages of consumer rights act. That way you have a record if it come to that, so do trading standards. In short, drive everyone f***ing mad and make them shape up
