    in terriers you often see ads for strong boned pups.... having recently bred my border bitch to a stud who was heavier boned than her, hoping he will add extra bone to the pups... was wondering, is extra bone something you breed for, and can it be achieved through a higher quality diet... the pups are all fed on a BARF diet and are strong and healthy... was just wondering if there was anything i could add or you folks would advise re: strong bones from 8wks to 1 year old.. thanks in advance.. rich

    no bother!! but even if his testicle does drop before 18 months, will your pup have proved himself enough to merit breeding off.... ive read that the immeadite threat of cancer caused buy un-decendended tesiticle isn't to much to worry about as it tends to happed later in life, but the threat/worry will always be in your mind, therefore imo id have him casterated, as 12/18 months matters very little, he will still be a pup, with alot to prove, with a problem that hasnt gone away... atb with the young un and i hope he matures and proves himself for you mate.... rich

    dont want to scare monger, because your pup is only 12 months but if it hasnt dropped by 18 months mate id get casterated as retained tesicles may turn cancerous later down the line......

    thanks for the replies lads.. keep em coming!!! the borders are the mrs dogs like, she'd kill us if i started schooling the young un for work, but she's only 8wks so i'll let her be a pup for 1 year and see what happens... still gonna get a fell bitch for myself... and kennel it, i think... like you say terriers are terriers!!!

    having only ever kept bitches, working cockers... and more recently 5 years ago i bought the mrs a border bitch, which we have just bred and are keeping the only bitch in the litter.... hopefully mother and daughter will be fine... back to the point, im looking into getting a fell terrier out of good working lines... what do you think DOG/BITCH??? 3 bitches together, am i asking for trouble??? also would you leave it for a certain amount of time , due to the pup we've kept back is only 8wks thanks in advance... rich

    as im new to patterdales/fells/lakies, please dont blast me out of the sky doing a little research before i get myself a lil fell bitch... dog aggresion in most i beleave is lack of early socialication and discipline, is this so with the above.. im sure ive read somewhere that certain lines of patts suffer with the above trait.... correct me if im wrong!!! im not slateting any line nor do i want to start it, but to the expericenced terrierman on here are certain lines throughing up more dog aggresive or un-socialable behavior than others!! again, im sure ive read certain str

    well 2wks or so have passed, and woodsman my border pup that was ill is well on his way to a full recovery... we will be keeping him here with us till he's totally sorted, it'll a be a bit of company for the bitch we've kept back i suppose!!! anyways im waffling thanks again for the reassurance UNDISPUTED.... regards.. rich

    quality in, quality out!!!!! have just raised a litter borders on BARF... raw minced beef chicken tuna pilchards egg green veg biscuit premium dry puppy food all have done well in only 8wks, solid healthy pups, coat and bone etc.. will never feed canned crap and dry food alone again out on convience, but then again i only have 2 feed!!!!!

    where do i start, my heads up my arse... my border bitch had her first litter 6wks ago. 3wks ago one of the puppys developed a pimple on his lower eyelid, which got bigger and bigger.. the puppy went to the vets as soon as i noticed the pimple and has been to my vets 5 times in the 3wks i expressed my concerns and mentioned it maybe puppy strangles.. but this fell on deaf ears... its not !!!!just gave me more antibioticis.. having spent the best part of £200 i was sent to see an eye specialist at further £120 to find out it wasnt a eye infection... you guessed it... its

    yes but you have to look hard for the right stuff I do not breed form middleton stuff because he put pedigree welsh terrier in his lines back in the 80s I think they still work? and if you look hard a few lads still got old brightmore lines cheers Breeder... wish you all the best with what your doing there fella..... like you say i'll keep looking,im in no rush, just a genuine lad kean as mustard... hopefully i'll find the right guidance and get hold a genuine BB dog/bitch to get me started.... atb...rich
