  1. For anyone attending the funeral.... as per Arthur's wishes, the requested dress code is "countrywear" rather than mourning clothes. As always a "countryman" as well as a true gentleman RIP.
  2. Hi Corkman, Thank you and others for those very kind words…. but for me it’s a privilege to be associated with the I.W.T.F., albeit in in a very small way. I have nothing but the greatest respect for what it and its officers have achieved and the manner in which they have always conducted themselves. It’s a real life example to all of us of what can be achieved if you’re willing to take your head out of the sand and fight for what you truly believe in, rather than simply spout hot air and squabble with each other. That the I.W.T.F., in such a short time, was able to change the poli
  3. Just out of interest.... currently there's one of these Border Fine Arts models for sale on ebay. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291707096573?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  4. Hi Rippem I know both pieces of artwork (both the single and the double)..... the single was produced by Border Fine Arts (I have one on my shelf now) and the doubles are an entirely different model. The double models were indeed commissioned and marketed by Char Smith and are they are quite different when viewed in close up. I've known Char for many years, since she first came over here to hunt and to dig in the U.K., I'd guess that was at least 25 years ago and quite possibly approaching 30. I've also hunted with her on several occasions in the USA and as you've already indicated...
  5. R.I.P. Mick..... one of the "old school"
  6. I can vouch for Tim's unsociability, it's driven both by his looks and nasty little habits. Even subscriptions should be handled by a third party! Hmmmmm.... it sounds like I must have married his twin sister then I appreciate your comments Tim.... but unfortunately if the NWTF was to attempt to deal directly with thousands of members, along with all the admin overheads that would create, it would leave little time to do any of the work for which it was originally set up. 7. Hi Foxdropper I'd be interested in hearing more...... I'll PM you my home number. Regards - Barrie
  8. Thanks Wilf and my very best wishes to you too..... wherever you are I hope you're having fun. Kindest Regards - Barrie
  9. Hi Wilf That's a pretty fair summary of the situation..... for a more detailed summary and details of the Act itself go to http://www.terrierwork.com/huntingact.htm Y.I.S. - Barrie
  10. Hi Wilf Thanks for those kind words, they're taken in the spirit in which I'm sure they were intended But even if I had £1m at my disposal...... all it would do is sit in the bank gaining interest. As I.M.H.O. very little practical benefit would be achieved by splashing out on some form of media campaign (or other similar venture) at this point in time. Yes.... at long last we do have a "sympathetic" Government in power, but one with only with a very slender majority. Recent events have shown quite clearly, that majority is insufficient to get through even a relatively minor H
  11. I dont get that J... So people can complain if they have paid there subs?? They were protecting hunt terrier men at high profile hunts. The overall admednent is to push for more hounds and more reasons to be out hunting. It's still be the same argument CA don't publish or invest in lurcher work or terrier work to my knowledge.. Their Web page has information and links for everything but lurcher & terrier work. I've contacted them on multiple occasion and had no response.. I contacted them regarding their insurance and working with in the current laws.. They ne
  12. Hi Foxdropper I'm not sure if you'd class me as "championing the CA" ? But to put the record straight, what I've tried to do is to give some insight into my own first hand personal experience of the manner in which the CA has supported my chosen sport..... terrierwork. Why have I bothered ? Because I know, based on my own experience (not hearsay) just how supportive they have been of terrierwork and over what a very long period of time. I also believe if we are to see any better changes for the future, then the CA is the only organisation who can pull it off AND even more
  13. Hi Wilf In all honesty...... like too much of the post that comes into this house, the CA Mag gets put on one side and is rarely read. However, there's nothing to stop someone putting together something topical and submitting it for consideration for publication, along with a covering letter suggesting that many terrier/lurcher owners feel rather left out in the magazine. But PLEASE don't volunteer me for the job LOL. If it's any help, I do know the CA had terriers on their stand at the CLA Game Fair this year and have done for at least the past 20 or so years. 15. Hi Keep I'm sure you're right there.... and at least in some part it seems like a return to the politics of the loony left. Even though I may disagree with her on some things, I'm normally a great admirer of Nicola Sturgeon's presentational skills. But I'm afraid this week she let herself down badly on all fronts. Her justification for her actions was at best "wishy washy" (we had thousands of English voters ask us to oppose the amendments) and coming from a lady who advocates that English politicians shouldn't interfere with Scottish affairs came across as being hypocritical. And
  16. If it's any help Flynn..... Michael Foster was the Labour MP for Worcester from 1997 until 2010 when he lost his seat at the General Election. His only claim to fame during that time was to have presented a Private Members Bill to Parliament which intended to ban all hunting with dogs.... his Bill failed. Kind Regards - Barrie PS. It never ceases to amaze me how all of these threads quickly seem to degenerate into a row amongst ourselves, while at the same time losing sight of who the real enemies are, our opponents must laugh their socks off J.M.H.O. bollocks Barrie the lurcher lad
  17. No offence intended Keep..... but I'm not quite sure where you get that idea from. If there is any animosity being directed North of the Border, then the only place which warrants it is to those SNP politicians who have seen fit to interfere with the activities South of the Border and for no other reason than to score political points. Speaking personally, I'm there shoulder to shoulder with the Scottish terriermen (and women), the same as I've always been and always will be. To me a loss for one is a loss for all, regardless of whether it directly affects me or not. Kindest Re

  19. Could this mean we could get a full repeal if we have EVEL instead of just the amendment? It would certainly mean a major shift in the balance of power and the size of the Conservative majority..... but I guess they have to get EVEL through first and that will be a battle in itself. Nevertheless.... interesting times ahead
  20. Following yesterday's decision by the SNP to vote with Labour in order to defeat these amendments..... the Government have decided to defer that vote until a future date. Roll on English Votes for English Laws and the sooner the better I say...... you only reap what you sow !!!!

  23. Micky..... well done you, I take my hat off to you mate I suspect the "Honourable Lady" got back a little more than she expected and all presented in a very courteous and informed manner. As of 2.30 pm today, 38,324 emails had been sent to MPs in support of these amendments. Please all keep up the pressure and share the link at the beginning of this thread with all your friends, relatives and contacts who are likely to support us. If we can't win this one.... then we don't have a cat in hell's chance of winning the big one. Kindest Regards - Barrie
  24. Repeal will be a once in a life time shot, if it fails we will never ever get a second chance and the whole process has to be properly managed, otherwise we’ll be saddled with the Hunting Act forever. At the risk of stating the obvious, whether we succeed or not is purely dependent upon the number of votes in our favour, both in the House of Commons and eventually in the House of Lords. That’s regardless of what David Cameron would like, and he’s made his views on that quite clear and on many occasions…. IT’S TOTAL REPEAL !!! The Conservative Government has a slim majority of 12 and so
