  1. Those fish were born in the pond and are now probably 8-10 years old and measure about 10 inches long. They are pretty hardy and healthy enough to spawn most springtimes. They only get fed from March-October every year. I tend not to fuss too much at them anditseems to suit them ok. They add a bit of colour to the garden. The pond is good for attracting birds and also bl**dy cats!!!!
  2. Last night must have been one of the coldest yet, it is lunchtime now and the pond is still completely frozen over for the longest time ever. The fish are still moving about slowly under the ice.
  3. I never had a crow but did have a baby sparrow for a while, found it in the garden as a scaldy with hardly any feathers. I kept it in a hamster cage and fed it on soaked bread until it was big enough to go. The wee thing hung about in the hedge for a while and then went on its way.
  4. Lovely to see that. Is it a male bird? Do the canaries ever get harrassed by the hawks?
  5. Great thread! The simple days before computers for all kids, eh? I must say I find crows very interesting and clever birds.
  6. Excellent! Loads of action in those pictures. Got any more to show us?
  7. Yes i do. the point is the dog is a physical deterrent, as well as an early warning device. Just like having an alarm, but with a sharp end To a point, but is a guard dog immune to poison etc from these theiving filth?
  8. Woke up to a winter wonderland again today so I went out in the garden again with the camera and took this pic.
  9. That's a lovely picture, did you take it through the window? The little robins are so bold!
  10. Leanne - in the interests of your child's wellbeing, find a new good home for the dog immediately.
  11. Hope you got them patched up ok and not too expensive. Are they both bitches? I think bitches can be really nasty, neither likes to back down in a scrap.
  12. I think your point about the wild dogs is that they probably have a shorter life span overall and it is survival of the fittest in the environment available. All wild animals fulfill their role as long they live long enough to reproduce and continue the species. Regards feral type dogs who hang around human settlements, they might not do too much actual hunting, most of thier food might come from scrounging in rubbish from the humans. The function bred dogs that we aim to keep are nurtured, trained and hopefully wormed etc in order to thrive successfully for a long time, rather than just su
  13. Looks like good fun there. The wee lads look so proud of their dogs!
  14. Good luck with it. Is there a lot involved with importing from abroad like that with it being outside the EU? Does it have to be quarantined etc?
  15. Have your parents had dogs (terriers in particular) before? Perhaps they should join a local dog training club for help and to get the pup socialised before he turns into a little big boots.
  16. FAO Kay Hi Kay. Iv'e been trying over the last few days but I can't get mine to magnify in the centre of the picture like yours does on the coin pic. I still see the green square on mine? What are the numbers along the side of the screen meaning, does it matter what they are? Thanks

Can't wait for the next installment....8.00 pm Monday night!!!!!
  18. Leanne - do you go on any other forums?
  19. Responding to the nonsense she posts only appears to encourage her to post even more
  20. Oh no! Just seen thread and my heart sank.............
  21. Always liked the look of that Ryfud dog! I no longer take my dogs to public parks because of irresponsible twats like this. It happened again last week - chavette pushing a pram, sucking on a fag and two out of control large dogs. They think it is ok to let their dogs harass others, especially if those other dogs are smaller and likely to come out worse off. I swore my next dog was going to be a Rottweiler!
  22. Well said. My neighbour died as a result of a drunk driver. Xmas is a sad time for her daughter and granddaughter left behind.
  23. Brilliant Kay! I'll try that and get some pics up to show my progress. Cheers!
  24. Thanks Kay. At the minute all I have managed to do is point and shoot! I find it hard to make head or tail of instruction booklets and would much rather showed me in person. I must try again and look for supermacro.
