  1. no quite what i was thinking but entertaining guys
  2. we all know a lurchers traditional role is..... hjkc, mark, lamp, ferret, work nets etc but how many guys on here use they're dogs for other purposes ? working cover / beating, retrieving to the gun etc or whatever..............
  3. for me, a pups got to be a pup, i like to let them suss all sorts of sights and smell and different experiences young, its all part of growing up, they'll learn when to hunt up and when to look up if they get a variety of stimuli, again for me, at such an important age a month off would take a long time to catch up
  4. Its because the tyres are worn! I don't know, some of these kelpie types are pretty powerful, and keeping that on tarmac would indeed take some doing! don't believe it..........it must have hit a fence
  5. yes take a break as i said on the other post there's 479 pages to read so a couple of days away will give you the time to do just that Will people asking about Merlin, eve, seagull etc. get suspended too? (I don't mean me now) again ?
  6. now now......theres a lot of tall tales on thl but satisfied
  7. I think we all like it tight....lol for some of us its always tight.....lol
  8. to my mind lots of sense here so far, have them out daily, lots of wee training sessions, lots of socialisation etc and a wee bit of patience, they'll be ready when they're ready, if any doubt wait a wee while its not gonna hurt you'll just get more time for all the obedience, jumping, retrieving etc practise
  9. it all depends on your needs, what quarry, ground etc but for me and my needs why not go with something like 'courseadog's' wee merle, its a topper.........you'd get the whippet input your looking for but keeping a good collie influence
  10. Don't you have a pair big man? my secrets out.........but i didn't think high heels counted
  11. ive seen pink wellies on here before
  12. fck me hats off to jamesmc..........just read through this thread.....74 pages it would take me to next xmas
  13. what about..........nike..........tracky..........hoodie.........bling
  14. agree with loads of the latter posts, with me on some ground jazz bringing me back sitter after sitter bunny after bunny, and me being the donkey carrying them got a wee bit too business like, ok for pest control purposes but for sport? for fun?......... bringing the young belle on has rekindled a fire, watching her take her 1st bunny, her 1st sitter, her 1st successful daytime course etc .........she had her 1st run in a couple of weeks last night after taking a wee kick on her shoulder, boy it felt good watching her stretch out on the stubble.........don't get caught up in pointless shit guy
  15. catch rates, expectations, percentages blah blah..................don't most of us do it for the sport ? preban a good but fruitless run on a winter hare with the dog you've bred or raised from a pup would've been worth far more surely than a hare curry
  16. both mine love the water, they were brought up on beach walks or going through rivers and streams they just don't know anything else
  17. i use them for control, teaching boundaries for wee pups, they soon adopt them as sanctuaries, a safe haven, they're own space. every pup will be different and the age you do away with it will vary, my 2 have the run of the house now but with an open bed where the cage used to be, with one 6 and the other 3 my cage is covered in dust in the loft ......but may be dusted down soon
  18. how do you rate the muck boot birddog better for ferreting on cold mornings too warm for lamping had them 3 yrs and they seem to be ok
