  1. I'm pretty (in fact very) new to this myself, I've got a copy of the versatile Gundog which is all HPR breed traing. It seems to be very well written and the training "seems" to be working. Its by a bloke called Guy Wallace...might be worth a look.
  2. I realise I could be leaving myself wide open here......I appreciate that every dog is different in breed and temprement. My HWV is now 4 1/2 months old and really enoying being a puppy. He sits on the lead and his attention span is not too bad, he returns on the whistle (if he is not to distracted with scent and other dogs etc.) He doesn't tend to wander more than twenty yards when he's off the lead, if he does I hide and he doesn't like that at all ! My questions are . 1) As he is only a puppy should I be letting him get away with "throwing a deaf one" occasionaly 2) what age
  3. Would be interested in techniques people use for stock breaking, I have a 4 month HWHV and i'm keen to get him used to livestock of all types. cheers, Dan
  4. Its not called the niffty fifty for nothing. One of the best focal lenses for portraits (imo). You can have some great fun with the depth of field and it produces great results....enjoy, looking forward to see the results.
  5. He seems to be growing by the day, coming on well and enjoying life to the full!
  6. interesting program (free) on BASC's V kennel Clubs views on docking http://www.fieldsportschannel.tv/index2.html
  7. I really thought we were getting somewhere, Sedge was a nightmare for the first couple of nights (in his crate downstairs) then he seemed to sleep through till 5.30am. Now it's 4.00am most mornings and he's whinging and barking. I'm not getting up in the night to let him out for a pee, I think this is where I may be going wrong ? He's 10 weeks old and his crate is wet when I come down. Should I be setting the alarm for say every three hours, taking him out and putting him straight back in the crate? Then slowly over time extending the three hours to maybe two toilet trips etc. Should I be mak
  8. If you have a pair of 12's ill snap them up. Brilliant wellies (and yes ......... I'm loaded). :whistling:
  9. Good call that, just subscribed. Try this site, some fishing (usually game) is featured and it's free. Thanks. http://www.fieldsportschannel.tv/index2.html
  10. Jeeezzz - what a negative attitude, to something you obviusly know very little about. I fish with my own built gun - relatively easy to build, and also it adds to the experience ,shooting a fish for supper with your own gun is worth doing. It is a very complex method of fishing [i practice every kind of fishing freshwater and sea] and this is the most rewarding. There is so much more to it than buying a gun and jumping in !! also spearfishing is probably the best way to obtain your fish - no bait , no waste [dont reel in undersized fish] If you would really like some sound advice from people
  11. Got one of these Barbour Endurance and I have to say its the dogs........... tough fabric, waterproof and warm, doesn't tend to sweat as much as the wax type. This one is on flea bay and "could" be a steal, shame its only large as I'd be in there. A great coat and I will certainly be replacing mine with another when and if the time comes. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380208183039&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1182
  12. What's the key to getting multiple pictures into a topic ? I know it's a case of RTFM but i'm lazy ! Thanks
  13. hi Adam, where abouts are you ? any chance of collection. Cheers, Belly
  14. Hi Mate, I have the Wiehrauch 100T Carbine thumbhole stock in .177 flavour. I've got to say it is one of the best rifles I have ever used, whisper quiet and pellet on pellet at 45 meters plus. Im using JSB Exact Diablo 0.547g and it performs superbly. In fact it probably more accurate than I can shoot. I'm sure you will get a few different "opinions" but I couldn't be happier. :gunsmilie:
  15. Best of luck, as advised..try BASC really good when it comes to the legal eagle stuff. ATB Belly
  16. Looks like a crackin' day out lads. Well done on the Teal.
  17. Picked the darkest one in the litter, this "should" mean he has a small amount of coat and won't be the really woolly type. He's already getting a bit of a wirey face and should look just like a working strain rather than the show type. Planning on working him on the rough shoot / beating and stalking in the years to come, can't wait. Cheers, Belly
