  1. Can't get the hang of multiple pictures in a post sorry, here's the second pic. I'm really chuffed to bits with him, his training "seems" to be falling into place and he is steadying up on the whistle. By the season after next i'm sure I will have a great worker (he's a great family pet too, I would recommend this breed to anyone)
  2. Here's a couple I took last week on the beach, he's really coming on and is now 8 months old. The bond between my daughter and the dog is frightening.
  3. Congrats all round.....any names ?
  4. Is that the Black Country ? Nice pics buddy
  5. I get a rough idea from your flag, where are you? Thanks Belly
  6. My 7 month HWHV is really starting to come into his own now. I'm not expecting to much at such a young age and he's still getting distracted but so far I couldn't be happier with the small amount of training i've done. He's going to be a bit young for this season on the beating line ( will take him on the lead so he gets a bit of experience) . My question is about teaching to jump, I have started to say "over" when he is going in and out of the back door ( a drop / jump of about 8 inches). What age should I slowly start to introduce small jumps and then build up. At 7 moths he should be OK on
  7. Just taken delivery of some pigeon decoys.. Bit of a case of all the gear and no idea i'm afraid. Pigeon is rapidly becoming one of my favorite meats but I am struggling to get a lot due to them having eyes and ears like god knows what. I always see the arse end of one after it's flown. :wallbash: Very Very clever birds I guess. :notworthy: I've decided to try and decoy them so I could really do with some pointers on how to set them out, i've been told they don't like their backsides facing the wind ? any pointers would be a great help, thanks in advance Belly
  8. Interested to know if any of your kids shoot (shotgun) and what age did you start them. My daughter is nearly 5 and is always asking to come along, sill think she is a little young and "small?" at the moment. Thanks, Dan
  9. I can vouch for this guy, honest and trustworthy, kit has been looked after from day one by someone who knows what they are doing....best of luck with the sale buddy
  10. SOLD .......subject to payment and clearance etc etc ......... Thanks,
  11. Better shot of the blade...drop point 3.5 inches ( blade length)
  12. Good solid knife (it would being a Buck). This knife is razor sharp (only sharpened on a water stone) Its seen some action as you can see in the picture, but it holds an edge perfectly. Fits nicely i the hand and is more than capable of most hunting / skinning / survival etc etc etc...... Offers over £25.00 - Paypal or cheque and i'llpost out recorded. Can meet in the Solihull area if needed. http://www.uttings.co.uk/Product/681/104416/buck-knives-b392cm-omni-hunter-knife-b392cm/
  13. After a bit of advice, new to shooting (been beating and on beaters day for years), finally got round to getting my SGC. My next step is to get a gun. I guess its going to be used on clays to begin with (need to get my eye in etc etc.) In the long term it will be a couple of pigeon days, a couple of driven days, a few walk round and 8-9 days on clay. I have been looking at the Betinsolli range at around £600 -£700. would one of these be suitable ? I have a budget of £800.00. Am i right in thinking that they are all straight and all go bang, so in theory they do the same job ? Thanks, Dan
  14. dont tell me the score tomorrow i am sky +'ing it !

  15. Advice for my HWHV. So far the "training" seems to be going well, he's only 7 months old so i am not expecting / trying much. Enjoying the puppy lifestyle and all that goes with it. The lead work ( little and often) and commands are fine, off the lead he is venturing further a field and developing his hunting instinct. (as he should ?)The recall is stating to become a bit of a hang-up.......he seems to "throw a deaf one" or become distracted , i don't want to chase him ( and turn it into a game) and i am not sure about finally getting him back and bollocking the life out of him, i dont
  16. They must be shit hot in the Midlands then, three and a half weeks from start to finish... (it was issued without a cabinet though....)
  17. Thought i'd post a pic of Sedge the HWHV, he's coming on really well that's him in my profile pic., 6 Months old this weekend and I am getting ready to start the "real" training in the next couple of weeks, so I guess I will be asking for plenty of advice. Cheers, Belly
  18. Had to post this, my wife loves it :icon_redface: (There is a more "manly" photo in the gundog section !)
  19. walking the dog on the beach

  20. Just got my SGC, the firearms officer was fine. I actually pitched it to him that i didn't want to own a gun, just wanted the licence to borrow the odd gun on beaters day and buy some cartridges. Had the certificate in the post without having a cabinet. ( he did say that if i bought a gun without advising that i had bought a cabinet and it had been checked I would be in the poop, but it's good to get the certificate.) Now I have all the time in the world to get and fit a secure cabinet. I wouldn't worry to much about double glazing etc. Just be honest and poilte and you should be fine
  21. I have one of Zorro's offspring. He's shaping up to be a real good worker (and family dog).... that breeding should give an excellent stamp of a dog. best of luck
  22. Nice shots Hannah, enjoy the sun and the zider
  23. Just received my new SGC so I'm after a bit of advice. General pitfalls and what to look out for and buy etc. Had a trip to William Powells in Banbury with the intention of purchasing a nice side by side and left thinking slightly differently. The guy was very helpful and we discussed my plans for the gun etc. After advising the gun would get three to four outings on a driven game shoot and five to six trips busting some clays he said an O/U would be far more suitable and versatile. Any advise on where and what to buy along with things to avoid and look out for would be greatly apprec
