  3. I'm after a little "friendly" advice, I have been out three mornings on the trot around the 5.00 am mark looking for wood pigeon, all I seem to see is their arse flying over the horizon . My land is open field (recently planted with plenty of green shoots coming through) surrounded by decent size hedgerow. The birds tend to congregate in the centre of the field - out of range. Anything that is within range seems to have bionic vision or something! I am quiet, dressed accordingly (not in cammo) and patient .....is there something that I am missing ? The pair of fat woodies in my ga

  6. Just purchased myself a new HW100 T/H .177 with Hawke 3-9x50 scope. All my previous years of shooting have been with my faithfull (still) HW57 breech loading .22 Bought the gun from the Country Store in Shustoke (highly recommended), a totaly different shooting experience than I have been used to over the past 15 years- whisper quiet and no kick. 35 yards has been the max kill zone on the HW57, it has really honed my stalking and patience. Can anyone advise on the limitations of my new gun?, went to Kibworth yesterday to "tweek the scopes" and was amazed that I was grouping at 45 yards

  10. This maybe a really dumb question for some (but not me obviously) I am looking at the possibility of a beddy / whippet or beddy / greyhound. This will be first and foremost a house pet. There will be plenty of opportunity for the odd "sport" with my beating / shooting and fishing so exercise is not an issue. My brother has a spaniel and the dog hair is effing everywhere. My missus will not put up with the mess. So here's the question : If there is a "splash" of Bedlington in the mix is the dog going to moult ? I have been told Westies and Beddlingtons are moult free ? Also....while I
  11. Hi Guys, I'm after a bit of advice and realise I run the risk of looking a bit stupid with some of these questions. I am really keen ( have been for a number of years) to get a Beddy Whippet cross. While I realise they can shift a bit I am also under the impression that they are quite happy to lie in front of the fire all day so my questions are as follows. How much exercise daily (excluding working) do these dogs need - a walk in the park or a three hour run in the fields? I have a three year old daughter are they suitable "house pets" ? I go beating during the shoot season -
