  1. Had a wander today without the dog, she has gone to that great hunting place in the sky and a new pup wont arrive until the new year. Walked the big dyke which usually hold a few mallard or teal............. .........But not today  Wandered accross some well grown rape and knocked a hare over.....only shoot a couple a year and this one has gone for Christmas pate. Finished in some scrub with a couple of pheasant and a missed woodcock and 4 golden plover which came over All in all a pleasant way to spend the morning.......
  2. Of course,if your living in commuter belt Oxshott or Chalfont st Giles your insulated and isolated from the problem and going to have a totally different take on immigration than if your a caucasian brit living in front-line Southall or Leicester or Bradford. Bradford...........what a dreadful stinking cesspit of a place. I was called a 'f ing white shit' by 3 asian dudes who walked past me in the middle of the city centre, never seen them before and had no conversation with them ! The place just wants levelling. Next day i had the misfortune to deal with a guy that was being aske
  3. Anybody make their own hams or dry cured meats. I am getting a couple of pigs in the spring and really fancy giving it a go. Any recomended books/reading ?
  4. Have just Parkway and the Brown trout on order fishwise.....and a few different owls and a couple of other bits and pieces. Came accross an otter not so long back, not a scratch on it, but the hoops you had to jump through made it not worthwhile Seemed an awful waste mate. Out on the boat tuesday if weather is okay......might take a few pics.
  5. This fish is 10 years old now and was caught on a 'hotspot shrimp fly' from a little fished North Yorkshire stream. She is called 'Parkway'
  6. No mate i was talking about the 'BLACKBIRD' in the bottom right hand corner of the last photo
  7. What shot size do you recomend for Blackbirds Les.........8.5's ?
  8. That would of made a great photo, don't get maggies or foxes here Do you have a good Barn Owl population there Kriti ? You can see Barn Owls anywhere you go on this island, so I'd say yes. I've lived here a lot of years now and seen them regular bell. Favourite bird of mine kriti.......picked up 2 dead from the roadside this week, one which was ringed as a nestling this year.......real shame they dont fly higher and avoid the traffic.

,i have the opportunity of moving to Canada Gotta be a lady involved methinks, been twice and loved it......breathtaking amount of space. A chap like you Mackem will find something to occupy yourself out there.
  13. Yes a barn owl cunningley disguised as a golden plover
  14. Yes Mudd, Mullet are notoriously diificult to catch. I guess i was lucky on this occasion......in the right place at the right time so to speak Have had them on bread in Spain and even had them in Monaco on a handline where the F1 cars go through the tunnel
  15. Nice pic sandy Last saw one at Spurn Point 30 years ago.
  16. The pic of the 3lb trout i put up on another thread had a rabbits hind leg in its throat when beached it........
  17. Dont need many mate,20 will do? Dont need many mate,20 will do? I look forward to hearing about it......i must say my favourite was a tossup between 'the tandori nypph and highstreet hookers'
  18. They are supposed to be good eating, have never managed to shoot one. Did you eat it ?
  19. Oddly enough all the brownies and grayling I catch seem to swim straight towards me,no charging except in one direction, something to do with their lateral-line.........I was looking for fishing aids yesterday, buying some stuff in from the far-east,I was going to get a job-lot and flog off the surplus cheap, but I ended up buying 1000 digital pocket-scales instead(not that I have 1000 pockets),dont forget the pics of the finished mount mate,be lucky. Mmmm how very strange.....very sensitive things are lateral lines. Fishing aids ?.......from the far east ?? Skues and Walton will be turn
  20. Sorry old thing, what with the shooting season kicking in i shall not be venturing North until January, but rest assured the old 'Mono' will feel the wind beneath her as she is hurled to the horizan accross a Scottish storm beach................... Cracking pic there fella. I'm loving the lingo by the way, it's amusing yet I can relate to it very easily...lol A fellow enthusiast Muddog ? The eating qualities of Mullet by the way are seriously underated
  21. You are correct, he asked if i wanted gold lettering on the case stating place caught etc........told him better not . Its all locked away upstairs mate.......a warm evening, had no luck on the river...water too low. Tried the Loch, a pair of Peregrines doing a fly past as i walked down to the water and a good Roe buck on the tree line..... First cast at the inflow saw a fish boil, second cast and it all went solid................then moved. I knew it was a good fish you can just tell, it took its time not like the smaller splashy fellows that charge about here and there and give themselves

  23. Thats £100-£166 a POUND?Expensive mate, good job it wasnt bigger. Yes,taxidermy is an expensive business. That trout is a fish of a lifetime for me, unlikely to catch a bigger wild specimen at the places i fish. My mate has some stunning pieces, have my eyes on an Osprey but at over 1k cant justify it. Love going to his place and looking at his latest stock
