  1. if yours is an average all-rounder in that case nearly every lurcher i ever owned and seen was "an average all-rounder"its just what suits are own needs no not realy watchman,, i dont concider the kelpie cross even an avrage all rounder, she wont do some quary, and even as a young dog befor the ban was not much cop at catching hares. like i say a good rabbit lamper , and good ferreting comanion. but im happy enough with that cheers TOMO
  2. I AGREE with flint, there wont be many lurchers out there that are masters at evry disaplin. but if you the owner is happy with an avarage all rounder then thats fine. that little kelpie cross i have is good lamping bunnys, and a good ferreting, but thats about it, and wil retrive birds when roost shooting, but thats your lot,,
  3. good lad , look forward to seeing him run next year,,, feck youl be even bigger and browner by then, youl look like a buff version of david dickinson
  4. here ya go jamie,,,, pinched this of the deerstalking section, hope the linc works this fallow stag shot a few days ago,,, you can still see the remains of the summer coat,,, and its now the middle of winter like i said pay attention http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/181311-my-first-fallow-buck/
  5. and why shouldnt i be commenting on the site?? no not all the rabbits look half grown, but some do and some of the deer ARE, and to the other botter you do not need to look a the leaves and if you actually went out in the countryside you would be able to tell the time of year by a deers coat colour tomo . but other than that good pics and some good days out i bet a fallows sumer coat can stay like that well in to late autumn
  6. Thats a proper strong looking pup ginny, that one with the white chest,,, well they all are but thats very strong. i liked em when i saw them when there were about 10 week old , i bet "S" is well pleased. have you got one ginny, or are you just letting S keep, clean and feed them,, and you just take them out
  7. nice to see some pics i havent seen befor, glad you put them up singlehanded, joe ect.. i love the knockers,,,, they see a pic with a tree in the background with leaves on , and automiticly say "SUMMER". some of you ought to take more notice of the countryside, that you suposadly hunt in. leavs just START to colour up end of sept, then through oct they get the rusty colours, not till the end of november are the trees bare.
  8. done loads of night ferreting in my time,,, as the others have said, get on that park land you cant go on in the day.. had some good bags in the right places..... we also yoused to do a field next to a power station,,, you could do without a moon,, cos of all the light polution from the power station. just have a walk round first , to get them to ground
  9. bloody southeners,, no idea how to pluck proper i stil wrap bacon round it , and also olive oil,,,,, take ya time plucking you still may get the odd rip,,, but its worth the extra time when its just a few birds for ya self.... if there for the dog,, then yes skin them or just pull the bigest feathers out.
  10. ile second what undidputed said,,,nice bit o "LURCHER WORK" and what a nice start for the pup. Bryn has been a good dog for you bird, thats for shure, But that is sacroligiouse skinning them ,, ony 10 mins to pluck them , and the skin keeps the flouvour in. be honest you were just being lazy
  11. i have 4 of those blade techs, and they are ok for a while,, but they eventualy feck your blade up...... also they can be all difrent all 4 of mine are the same type,,,,,, but when used on the same nife you get difrent results. i like the look of the lansky 4 box thingy,,,, have a look on youtube theres some good demo's
  12. that the running dog game 4 you she will not forget mate .................... i know mate just got all this time on my hands and can put it to any use so to speek Just keep it exercized,,, and maybee try some other things with it,,, roost shooting pigions or pheasants,, let him or her retrive the dead birds. its nice to walk out of an evning with a dog at heel learning a new disaplin

  17. TOMO

    meaning of words?

does that aply to a person who comments on evry post
  18. no,,, but you said evrybody was claiming to call there litters, minshaws even when there bitches were no such thing,
  19. hold on singledhanded,,,,, i have never once said my litter is a "MINSHAW",, MY BITCH IS A COURSING BRED BITCH. and when ever asked i tell people exactly how there bred .
  20. "BITCHES" i mean bitchyness, theres alot of lads out there that are like women , and just bitch about other lads dogs,,, make up bollox , just to feed there own ego's . without dowt some of the coursing lads are the worst,,, just read these sites, you see it all the time.
  21. i get £2.20 each ,, thats hole with the guts in, doged and ferreted. there for animal feed and take 100 at a time, i freeze them in my big chest freezer. only trouble is its all through the books so the taxman gets his bit. there was an add in last weeks cmw, they are collecting rabbits of the lads , that company pay 75p each i rang them.
  22. its what dogs do, hunting up is not coursing! If you didn't like it on the site you saw it, then maybe you should have commented then, not tittle tattle behind closed doors! how do you work that out then. yes it dose happen and it has happened to me. but i would not put it up on youtube even if it was by accident i would not have been happy with the time they took to catch it, it was at there feet, and the time it took to retreve. plus the title were i seen it was ........''my old lurchers on a good run'' now was that a good run? the terrier should have had that it was that close
  23. YEP done it many times over the last 30 year ferreting................ of course i have proberbly missed more than ive cought
  24. yes , seen the film befor,,,, i think most fella;s faced with that situation now , post 9-11 would do the same,,, cos if you get these jehad, on your your plane. its unlikly to be a happy ending, so you go down fighting as for the film,,, its one of those you know the ending, but you cant help cheering them on thinking there going to win. very sad for all there familys, maybee theres some comfort in knowing they fought back.....
  25. as one of us up set you, why would you think that,,, the only reason i can think you would think that is because my views are difrent to you yours. whilst i dont agree with this realy early running of pups on game, and your pride at never having a job,,, i do however look forward to hearing about your dogs , im not like evryone else who compleaty disregards some of the stranger crosses,, in fact i realy like the idea of the sled dog crosses and german shepard crosses ect, so to recap , not upset , just a difrent opinion
