question for the vehicle lampers
TOMO replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I do both walk and drive, the above statment is most likly true of other game, but not rabbits, the biggest bags of rabbit will always be made on foot, not to say you cant catch good bags of bunnys cos you can, but the real big bags are done on foot -

question for the vehicle lampers
TOMO replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
in actual fact it was the first type of lamping with a dog, think its in Walshe's book keppers 60-70 year ago were doing with old motor cars and whippets and lurches running along side catching the bunnys -
GREAT program realy enjoyed it, i deffo aint got the minerals for that game. i think the fat lad should pack in 2 near misses in a year, hes not built for that game

depends on where your working and how the rabbits are spread around, there are places where the warrens will refil quikly. some places you can do almost weekly, provided there are plenty rabbits in the area. and this bussines of rabbits not going in to warrens for months after a ferret has been in is nonsence. i have regularly seen rabbits go back down a warren i have ferreted just a few minuets earlier

TOMO replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
after driving to my pemision, i get in the first field and let both dogs out for a stretch and empty, for a half mile or so, thats when the pic was took, its very rare for me to double up, but i will do it somtimes. dont know what you mean "A FEW FULL COOKED DOWN YOU" If your on about the slim young fella out the sun roof, thats my mates young lad, tell you what i wished i had his energy -

question for the vehicle lampers
TOMO replied to forest of dean redneck's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
AS stabba said redneck, personly though if its rabbits your after and theres reasnable numbers your better with the dog running along side the motor. again with practice the dog learns when to go from a trot to a gallop. i also youse the voise command of "get on" wich gets them going down the beam even if they cant yet see it. also if ya can drive round the edges of the fields next to the hedges in a clockwise direction also handy having a rearspotlight on the motor as rabbits often run round the back of the truck out of the beam your holding. -
Is The Jill Ferret Better Than The Hob At Ferrting ?
TOMO replied to ScottChimbur's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
stubby thats not becuase the hobs are better than jills, its just that 1 hob is better than the jill. i have done exactly the same thing but the other way round, thats just 1 ferret being better than another, regardless of sex. -
WHAT a thing to say most of you on here have seen my pics, im not exactly slim, but youve all seen the pics i put up each winter week after week with the dogs lampning and ferreting, with some deasent scores. ile walk with anyone up the dales, granted i might be a little slower than a 12 stone 25 year old but ile keep going the other thing runforyourlife is alot of lads run there dogs along side the truck, great for the dogs but not great for your waist also having a tan is no indication to how fit a dog is in WINTER , im just starting bringing my dogs fitness up now, bu

HERES a few pics for all the know it alls. this little jill was well capable of working all day on the bunys, and was dug to most days with dead rabbits, she was also blind in one eye. theres a few chaps on here that have been out and watched this jill bolt and kill, most were supriced by how many were dead when you got down to her. out of intrest STOATS wich she was the size of , are well capable of killing rabbits heres a pic of a good day not all were bolted by her of course, but a fair chunk.

best bull line .or best bullx ever seen work
TOMO replied to bulldog2's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
of course they are So lines and names do matter then? -
good on ya kev, but that ferret has proberbly been out for weeks, and belive you me they can travel for miles, it could have been lost out ferreting a few month back on neighbouring farms. as for treatment just cleaning the abbsess evry day is not likly to work , i have tried befor and it dont work. get it in a seperate ferret hutch, and treat it with some antibiotics amoxocilin is good. crush a tablet up in to powder and desolve it in its drinking bottle, so evrytime it has a sip it gets some. also sprinkle some on some food evryday, tined cat food is good for this as its moi
