    Depends on the farm I'm doing this place we have done recently doesn't have warrens that are that big,, the largest was one of around 60 holes,, a few week back and we put 6 in ,, there was 3 of us and each had 2 .. But most of the warrens are under 30 holes ,, so two are plenty most of the time One or two of the other farms have big warrens on banks stretching a hundred yards or more ,,, and again we will start one end with half a dozen or more ferrets,, and move along,, As for sexes I use both ,,, but for the last year or two the best ferret in my court is a hob of a smallish to med

    There's plenty of vids on YouTube of them working,,, I have put no end up over the years,,, type in podencos ,,, as we tend to call them Ibizan hounds ,, the Spanish refer them as podencos,,, Have a look out for them hunting in Lanzerote,, running on pure rock and old larva flows,,, tuff dogs with great feet,, but there used more like our hound,,, in numbers and they open up but they do catch plenty.

    I was very fortunate to have met marvin haggler ,,he was doing a gentlemens eavning here in notts and I was asked to look after him,,, they put a few of his fights on and then folk got to ask him questions,,, a real nice gent and his wife.. Although it was a good night,, it was slightly mared when one of the local "gangsters "hanger one,,,shouted out have you ever had a prostitute,,, what a f***ing nob.     Not just credit mate, if Lucas throws some duff litters, no one will question the bitch. Some might but the crabbers won't. The two best bred animals in the country can produce a dissapointing litter, it is in the lap of the gods, but choosing well bred stuff significantly improves your chances of getting good workers .imoSome lovely pups pictured on this thread , atb to them and their owners next season. agree with that totally You've learned a lot in 5 short years What's your excuse then after 40 odd years ..............

    Talking of quik catches,, I got to be honest I'm not to keen on the quik streight line type of catch,,, it doesn't test the dog to much,,, and I'm left wondering weather the dog would have cought it given a few more seconds on it,, It is nice to watch the dog behind the hare for a good Minuit or so befor making a catch

    Have a trawl around TC and look for a film of a bitch called spinner,,, it's on old film , she was out of lucky,, and died young unfortunately,,, but she was a very quik and up and at them type,, putting in loads of strikes,, another exciting type of lurcher to watch. I don't know where to find her on YouTube ,,, it might be with the lucky films,, also if you can find any look for Splodge he's captins son,, and if anything a faster type,,, but I don't know if there's any film of him

    Depends on what your definition of intelligence is ? Collies poodles ect excel at obedience type stuff and are deemed to be intelligent cos they pic it up quik... Saluki types seem to have an in built understanding of running cunning as they say,,, it's plain to see on a lot of coursing films,, watch lucky and lots of others boxing a hare from cover,,,,,,now is that intelligence or a more basic natural hunting instinct ??

    TC,, that captin dog realy was at the top of his game,,, a cut above most coursing types,, he was up there with the greats , a very exciting dog to watch as well,, as he was usually all over them,,, there's a DVD I have where he catches 6 from 6 and makes the hares look very average I had a daughter of his,, but she wasn't in his league ,,,

    That's a good point fat lad,,, and something that should have been mentioned on the gsd thread,,, finding a good Shepard dog is a tuff call I think,,, the fecking rechid specamins that hide under those thik coats are plenty,,, although crossing them may well cancel out the bad points,,, I still think there's better options out there,,, possibly like you say with the mal (Dutch Shepard). I rember about 4-5 years ago having this discussion on moochers,,, a pic was put up of a class winner at cruffts,,, A fecking abomination that should have been shot,, and yet a few moochers members thought
