  1. isnt he the fella who went missing on a canoe!?
  2. Thanks for the advice. Good points and bad i am interested in it all Fresh earth I see where your coming from with working to lurchers and beating. The shoot I beat for are pretty laid back, a bit of a heath robinson shoot! Although I want and will train the dog as well as I can, they are pretty casual when it comes to peging birds, non of the dogs there are what you'd call perfection Jack of all trades, master of none is what I am after Do you think there is any benefits in the KC reg dogs? more background history etc? I am never going to do shows or trials with the dog and very
  3. Cheers for the reply Do you know what would I expect to pay for a decent working bred cocker? Not fussed about KC either way, just want a dog with a good working background.
  4. Wasnt sure where to post this but will give it a go here! Didnt want to post in the gundogs section as thats not what I want. Does anyone here keep a cocker or springer to work with the lurchers? I am thinking of getting a cocker for bushing and beating and even coming out ferreting for marking etc. I also do quite a bit of air rifle shooting over land and water so having a retriever would be handy. My dogs come to work with me in the van too so its important that they are not too big hence why I am thinking cocker over a springer, They just seem a good handy allround dog to have
  5. I am not the only one who wondered what 'full' body covered then
  6. A man who knows what he is talking about!!...good reply PO. Lets take bait for a minute, and my advice would be "Dont Belive The Hype!!".....try and think of bait as nothing more than something carp will eat, put it in a place they will eat it and in a quantity that will keep them there (or just get you a bite) whichever fits what your doing at the time.....theres loads of things out there that fit the bill and none more deadly than good ol sweetcorn or worms. These £10 a kilo baits are much too expensive for 99% of anglers to use correctly anyway.....you fish a water with a high head of 20
  7. I wouldnt want my business on that website. Poor use of english, tacky looking website with cheap adverts etc. It really is not good. Infact I would avoid businesses on that site. I dont mean to offend you but I am just saying it as I see it. You would be better off paying for a proper, classy looking website that people would want to use. Good luck with the site but I cant see it working if it stays like that. HJ
  8. Unless I am missing what your trying to say...your not being insured with the comparision websites....they just give quotes from individual insurers. Once you see what company the cheapest quote is from you can go to them directly for another quote and specify any extras (legal cover/excess etc) you want if not included.....may add a few more quid on but dont pay the greasy c**ts £800 if you dont have to. No need to pay more than you need to...theres no such thing as a 'top quality' insurance company, they are all dirty robbing b*****ds who will get out of paying any way they can!
  9. Depends on the client but normally no more than 5 miles. Got a few at about 10 miles. Do a lot of work in my village so walking distance often
  10. Hello mate. I dont have personal experiance with the jackets but a good friend of mine who does driven shooting 2-3 days a week in the season does. He's a bit of perfectionist and has been though a lot of shooting jackets and he rates the schoffel ptarmigan as the best he has ever had. So good he has both the ptarmigan jackets, the lightweight and normal. Not first hand experiance on my part but I know he rates the schoffel jackets very highly and he isnt the sort of bloke to recommend things willy nilly. If I had a few hundred for a jecket thats what I would go for atb, HJ

  13. I am thinking of getting a website made for my little gardening business. Has anyone done this? Looking at costs its seems you can pay as much or as little as you like. I dont want to spend much but I am very picky and would rather not have one than have a shitty looking one!! Can anyone recommend any companys that can do this? £500 would have to be the very top money I could afford. any ideas? Hope you can help a computer dunse in need.... HJ

  21. Savings cannot be made from thin air, everyone knew cuts were on the horizon after the election. Something has to give somewhere along the line, seems people want savings but without actually losing anything, its not going to happen, it cant.... Take it from me who was only at school 4 years ago...the sporty types who are intested in football/keeping fit etc are out at lunch time playing football and sports... they dont need it in lesson time. The little fat feckers who need the exersize never do enough in PE to make it worth while, it really is a waste of time. I always fell under the l
  22. Caught more with my feet had a couple with my hands. Seen one caught in between a blokes thighs, kneeling next to a hole re doing the net, I could barely stand up for laughing so much!
  23. I think there room for a good 'complete guide to starting ferreting' dvd. Could cover all the different kit needed, using different locators, setting purse nets and longnets, how to neck rabbits, gutting, skinning, making nets and pegs, how to dig properly, general advice on keeping working ferrets, housing/feeding etc. Thats probably not even half the stuff that could be covered. Might not be the most exiting dvd but I think it would be very helpful to people looking to start. Luckily for me I was kind of born into it, but if your just a newbie without a clue I can imagine it would be a pre
  24. what problems have you had with yours? ive got one and its really good, lifetime warrenty too.
  25. The trick is making sure your holding and pulling the HEAD down, not gripping on the neck and pulling that down. Personally I think its more fool proof to grip the rabbits head in front of the ears, rather than behind as in that pic. I've seen young girls do it, it really is so easy if your shown how.
