  2. I spoke to him (by phone) recently. He seemed ok,.............. And did he say why is he so elusive these past months? Not really, i didnt want to push him, on it ?,....i would be surprised however,...if he didnt come back on,at some point.
  3. I spoke to him (by phone) recently. He seemed ok,..............
  4. Got me a hold of a few 'flatpack stainless'.Havent set a half-barrel,for a season or two.Didnt quite realise, how much i missed them !,.... lol Hopefully, ive got some, i should be able to work with again ? (early results are encouraging, lol)
  5. "don't work for peanuts",.....vital advice that, Bry,....lol
  6. Looks like youve got things sorted, Bryn,....what with gardening/landscaping all through summer & into autumn ?,.....then you can concentrate on the moles, winter & spring,....lol Sounds like, youve got your working year organised, mate, and all the time keeping the 'wolf from the door' ? lol
  7. Lovely time of year to trap though don't you think. It can be, mate. Only thing up here though, is you often have to contend, with the dreaded 'midges', lol
  8. Aye, and the grass generally being up, also, ive often wondered if theres just more food around for them, in summer ? as they dont seem to work the tunnels, as hard,....
  9. Different when its a really dry summer,up here.Alot less activity, on silage/hay ground (hardly worth it !),....i find 'summer moling' is far from ideal, anyway ?,cause theyre not all showing,or working hard,on the farmland, then. But by mid-November, all the moles in a given area, are 'showing' ?......well, on my 'patch',that is,...lol
  10. Its been quite a wet summer, where i am.Seems to encourage a bit more activity, on the cut ground ? Mostly 'surface runs',.....
  11. It all depends on the owners expectations ? I like your approach,here,....lol If they are satisfied, with it,...then why attempt 'clearance' ? (easier said than done, anyway !) I would be more than happy, to make sure theres always some left !,.... if it was me,....lol
  12. I doubt it,....both of them, are seriously talented ! lol
  13. France (or possibly one or two other european countries) is the place to be a 'moleman', now,....lol Its finished here, too many at it now,...lol I tell you, if i was even a bit younger id be over there, but im too set in my ways now.Even a camper van, or similar, would have sufficed initially, to go over with, see if you could get established. ?
  14. Well, theres no doubt ,that theres a serious amount of competition to contend with, nowadays. For whatever type of 'pest control', you wish to undertake,commercially,....So its certainly not going to get any easier, to try and 'make a living', from it . In fact, anyone who is making a 'proper living', from the game, should count themselves lucky, i think,..lol
  15. Totally agree, if i only had one power tool it would be an angle grinder. Get a zincronium flap disc for it, will quickly sharpen any steel. Fit a wire cup brush and clean rust off most things. A diamond disc and cut stone A carbide disk cut & grind metal. A wood carving blade The list goes on. In short go and buy a 115mm angle grinder! I had a cheap £12 Woolies one did for years, now have at leas 7 assorted makes and sizes. Saying that if your spade is getting a blunt edge, would say you need to invest in a decent quality spade as said above they should more or
  16. Aye mate,..ive heard something, like that before ? lol unfortunately, it doesnt seem to be strictly true ? (ive found)
  17. Would the "file" be described, as a "b*****d" ? lol (im not joking),...whys it called that ? lol Im afraid, im also not 'bright' enough, to understand your last question,.....but thanks, anyway. The 'blade' edge has been finished as a 'double edged' type of sharpen ?,...its just that its starting to blunt ?
  18. Can anyone recommend what i can use,to sharpen the edges of a spade head ? (havent got a vice, tools, workshop, etc,at my disposal) Anything i can buy,....type of file, or sharpening stone ?, etc.(the spade head, is carbon steel)
  19. I caught 3 by hand within a fortnight. One whilst the customer was watching. I think he felt a little duped, as in he wanted more for his money!! To be fair. I think I was more surprised than the moles This has got to be the 'ultimate' , live-catch method,.....lol
  20. Did it try and make a dash for it, Moxy,....from one end of the run,to the other ? Or was your hand, up the tunnel, and the mole ran into it ? ( if you know what i mean) LOL,.......Thats one of the best close up photos, of a mole,i have seen,...by the way.
  21. Arguably, the best screen portrayal of dracula, ever ?
  22. Lol lol,.. i know mate, got me thinking about any 'adders' (in uk) using the tunnels ? cause im not too brave that way, either ! ,...(preparing the tunnels , with your hands, etc ?) ha ha Even if it was a 'grass snake' or 'slow worm', you would still s..t yourself, if one appeared ? lol
  23. Lol lol,.. i know mate, got me thinking about any 'adders' (in uk) using the tunnels ? cause im not too brave that way, either ! ,...(preparing the tunnels , with your hands, etc ?) ha ha
  24. Goodness me, just shows the wide range of critters, that will traverse mole tunnels ? Regrettably, its probably impossible to avoid catching, non-target species, in this type of situation ?
