  1. thats a very good bag, whats that shot over, rape is it?
  2. take a look on http://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/. they shold have what you want at a fair price
  3. what a shot that was. i thought that i wouldnt have kicked like it did but hey it happens. i once shot a hare a 320yds with a .308, perfect chest shot and a though i had missed it cuz it lay flat and then sat up and realized it had been shot a fell over stone dead! again, nice shot
  4. a very, very good weeks stalking if you ask me!
  5. Hi all, tell us what you best bag of pigeons is. tell us what the weather was like when you shot them, roughly where, what were they on and include any pictures if you have them. my best bag is 92 shot over chopped maze in the middle of a rape filed. it was a cloudy day with a bit of wind and plenty of pigeons to go at. i shot these on the Lincs/Notts border. well that's my best bag to date, so tell us what yours is
  6. when ever i have come accross pigeons i have never heard them cooing to each other, so i cant see how i can work. the only time i hear them call is when there in my garden lazing about (unfortunatly if i shoot a garden woody my mum would kill me). and then its normaly in spring when they are mating.
  7. well done for getting off the mark. now the only way is up. good luck for next time
  8. i have a crow decoy out with my pattern and that brings in the odd crow that is flying by. in a lot of the shooting ,magazines that i read they often say that crows will add to a woodys confidence. i've never had woodys spook at crows
  9. hi, from what ive head anschultz are very good, dont know about the semi auto ones though. i personaly shoot a ruger 10/22 that has be fully customised by rimfire magic. its an awsome rifle, best group iv shot with it is 1/2 inch at 75 yards. some semi autos dont like subsonics and they wont recylce very well, thats why i got a custom one. but if it recycles and shoots well i would be temped if the price was right and i was looking for one. btw you can shoot a few rabbits quickly with them.
  10. well done, nice to get what you set out to get aint it
  11. hi, i use a Barska SWAT 7 it has 8-32x44 with a 30m tube. it is very good for target shoooting and because of the wide range of mag you can shoot with it at any range. 20+ mag would be good for long range shooting
  12. the first thing that i shot was a clay pigeon, first kill was a woody . that was when i was 8, im now nearly 18 and last month my total vermin head count was 129 .
  13. i think that having variable power is very handy, i have got a bit too much tough, 8-32X44, at 75 yards a rabbits head and chest fills the scope. having about 20 mag would be ideal for at 100 yards.
  14. the gauage is determined by how many balls of lead can be roled into equal sized balls and fitted into a shot gun barrel, i.e. 20 bore = 20 equal sized balls. hope this helps a bit
  15. hi, just wondering what everyone else shoots through there rimmys. i have a custom Ruger 10/22 and i shoot Winchester sub-sonic through it. they shoot well, best group 1/2 inch at 75 yards, and never had a jam with them. so let us know what ammo your all using and how good it is.
  16. good advice that. i know that i have never turned up at any random filed and shot a half decent bag. hoep you get on better next time
  17. forgot to add, they all end end of Feb.
  18. hi i used to go on the hare shoots round us, I've been on days where we shot 450 hares. there a nightmare in some parts of Lincolnshire, worse than rabbits. but i don't go on the shoots any more because of the unsafe shooting and also people who cant shoot and shoot at them too far away annoys me as they end up wounded and not dead, although if you hit a hare where i used to go you had to follow it until you had got it, then call the tractor to come & pick you up. as i said earlier there are hare shoots in Lincolnshire if you want to go on them.
  19. that gun of yours sure makes a mess of them charlies
  20. hi what is important in a gun is that it fits you and you feel comftable with it. as for makes go for a Browning or a Miroku, you cant go wrong with either as there both made in the same factory. i would go for an over and under, personal preference. if you want a semi-auto then got either a beretta or a benelli. post up what you get and some pics.
  21. hi I do a lot of pigeon shooting and a lot more clay shooting. when shooting anything with shotguns you don't 'aim'. you just stare at the target and let your brain work it out. DO NOT AIM or you will miss. as for where they are coming from they should approach from the front but it depends on the wind and how and where you set up. if you have the wind on your back then they will come from in front or behind but will always land facing into the wind, when they open there wings wide and are about to land is the easiest time to shoot them, but if you miss they will flare of in any direction
  22. hi thanks for your tips. we will try electric collar as where we walk you wouldn't be able to use long leads. as 2434me suggested we havent had her out on rabbits. we've only had her doing a bit of picking up on the local shoot and pigeon shooting.
  23. Hi we have a black lab bitch, shes 2 yrs old and a brilliant working dog. when we take her shooting she is brilliant, but when you take her on a walk she will get on a hedge and run and run and run. we cant get her to stop, she comes bback when she wants. like i said erlier she is great in the field but on walks shes a different story. any help would be greatly appreciated
