  3. dont know why always thought the use of steroids was more for short explosive bursts of power more than endurance, plus the more muscle mass you carry the harder your heart and lungs have to work to deliver blood to them so that lactic acid doesnt build up, carnt see roids helping a coursing dog perform better more of a hinderance i would think, and for any dog for that matter. spot on mate, i agree, a coursing dog full of steroids is more likely to suffer a heart attack
  4. me and my mate use my chocolate lab, we went on a new shoot and between us lost about 6 pigeons in thick brambles and cover, after that we decided to use my lab, he seemed to find them and pick them up naturally, retrieving took abit of training, but not much.. now as soon as my gun bag comes out he goes mental, absolutley lives for it, some situations are perfect for dogs, others not so.. if you have a keen dog use it mate, even if they do scare a few off, still good to watch atb mate
  5. dont know how to PM mate, computers bamboozle me, if you have no joy and there is any chance of posting let me know.. great gun, i will have it off you.. ATB either way

ATB
  7. as you say mate, some people like speed, some skill.. those who are lucky have both! i dont have the knowlege you lot have, but surely its horses for courses, or dogs for quarry/situation, depends on what you need from your dog.. atb mick

  12. i use my lab mate, rescued him at 10 month as a pet and thought i mite aswell take him out with me, picked it up naturally but he is still learning, on the other hand my mates whippet/greyhound is a great all rounder, good on most quarry and will retrieve feather all day too. if your into your running dogs mite be better to bring a lurcher on with feather aswell.. either way ATB with it mate.. Mick

  14. Hi evryone, just wanted to introduce myself, i am no major hunter/expert i just do a bit of airgun shooting and go out with my mates lurchers and terriers from time to time, i have a chocolate lab i rescued when he was 10months, and so i became interested in gun dogs, i find your forum good for advice on health and training etc. so thanks for evrything so far ATB evryone Mick
  15. I agree with mickyrichardson, ignore people who think all dogs should be obese house pets. she looks very well.. 2 crazy women (mother and daughter i think) went ballistic with me yesterday because my lab was off his lead and went to sniff there 2 cocker spaniels, tail waggin, they both picked up there dogs screamin, 1 of them crying!! saying my dogs are scared, i was gobsmacked and started to laff, i called my dog away but they were goin mental which wound all three dogs up, some people dont understand dogs at all let alone a working lurcher.. my waffle over and steam let off.. ATB Mick
