  3. It depends on what camera you have and what lens you have now. If you have a lens up to 50mm or 55mm now look at the Tamron 70-300mm there are two versions and the cheaper one is circa £120, the extra 100mm on a crop body is 160mm which gets you much closer. If you have a canon they have a 75-300mm at £175. With any lens purchase buy the best you can afford and if there is a better one for a little more save a bit. Also look round the camera shops and photography forums for second hand as usually SH lens are in good nick. Have a look at camerapricebuster.com they give the best pric
  4. Very nice, never seen one either so please show some more as you get them.
  5. No I doubt it, the first I knew she was there was when she sat up as the stag went past, after that I had my lens set on a worthy news storey or at least a tale to tell down the pub. My wife was not impressed I had taken pictures of young girls with not a lot on lol.
  6. Thanks for the comments It could well be him. He has a bad name and it is all due to stupid people who don't respect their space. Take this girl, she decided to sunbathe in the middle of where they were rutting even though there was another 1990 acres where there were no deer. She was then surprised and terrified when threatened by a stag. She was shaking and jumping around so much I thought she was going to set her puppies on him but the cool box did the trick in the end. Sorry for the quality but photobucket seems unable to compress large files very well, I sh
  7. These were taken at Bushy Park so confined to 2000 acres rather than proper wild. .
  8. Wow, and double wow. What a great sky and you captured it soooooo well.
  9. I am with J Darcy on this. It is a challenge and one I have dismissed even at dusk or dawn. If you are serious about this you will need to be pretty good at panning the dogs in daylight let alone in the dark. A powerful enough flash will also cost a few quid but the best value to power would probably be a Nissin 622 at £120 or the more powerful 866 at £200 the later being the most powerful speedlight on the market I think. Recycle times are 3.5 secs for both so not quick. The Canon 580exii might be slightly quicker but it is also over £300 and not as powerful. I would also sugges
  10. What puts her off the DSLR? If it is weight and having to carry it round her neck then look at a Quick Rapid or the original Black Rapid sling. (on the bay). I would never go back to a neck strap after using one. I pretty much take my camera everywhere now if it is light and usally with a big 70-300mm lens. I bought my step mother the copy version and it is very good, she now uses her DSLR much more and loves the fact that you can forget you are carrying a camera until you need it even with a heavy lens. If you want a good compact the Canon S95 has just been replaced with the S100
  11. Found this chap the other day on a canal towpath picked him up on a this twig took his photo and put him safe in the hedge. I was also holding my crazy lurcher on its lead at the time so chuffed I got it at all. Pale Tussock Caterpillar by PINNACLE PHOTO LOG, on Flickr
  12. Very nice set of pics. Liverpool looks like a good spot for night shots
  13. Cheers Hannah I should stick in the poultry section for a laugh.
  14. The Canon 1000D is their entry level DSLR but still capable of good shots. As deadlyshot says the link doesn't work but looking on camerapricebuster.co.uk I guess this is it http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/eos-1000d-digital-slr-camera-with-canon-18-55-mm-ef-s-zoom-lens-10-1-mp-02441727-pdt.html?srcid=369&xtor=AL-1 there is also a promo code 5COMET which gets it down to £313.48 which is a really good price. You will need to buy a SD card 4G min, a bag and I would reccommend a UV filter for the lens. You will find that 55mm is perhaps not long enough for wildlife or dogs at a dista
  15. A Canon 7D and 70-300L. Not cheap but as I got more into photography I ended up selling my air guns and a shotgun to pay for the camera and gear, also use it for work so it is paying for it's self slowly.
  16. Glad you like it and thanks I am still chuffed that I was in the right place at the right time and there was good light.

  19. I would have gone with Hobby but I have asked in Falconry as well now. Thanks for input.
  20. I posted in Wildlife and Photography the same question but there seems to be two thought on what this is. I live in Surrey a few miles from Guildford and this is the first of these I have seen round here. We had a Collared Dove killed and eaten in our garden about 2 weeks ago and I got a breif glimps of a very similar bird finishing it off before it saw me in the window and left. I took these two shots this weekend when I was out with the dogs and my kids about 3 miles away on one of the local commons. I spotted it a long way off, it moved very quickly, darted round a few
