  1. I am glad you all like them and thanks.
  2. My job this week has me between Esher and Teddington so I manage to get to stop off for a coffee and a short walk between at Bushy Park and so far having some good breaks. Well worth a visit.
  3. This Heron caught this through that weed, just cracking what these birds can do
  4. Started with this then these which ended with the female being caught by a pond spider RIP One of these (the human version) A Hobby an awesome bird catching dragonflies and me not ready for it. Swallows are the hardest thing I have ever tried to take a picture of, they are like bullets. and finished off the day with a glimpse of a Red Kite
  5. Camera Canon 1Div and 70-300L. Sold some guns and bought a camera Thanks for all the comments. These are such stunning creatures and worth watching and trying to take pictures of if you get a chance. If you want to try these first thing is to bin auto focus. Manual focus is the only way imo, takes a bit of practice, I also set the camera to manual with about f10 and 1/1000-1/1600 shutter speed ISO as low as I can go but hovers around 800-1000 so I use a flash as a boost. I don't use fast frames per second as the flash won't charge so just one at a time. Average 1 in 10 on a good day
  6. I am cr4p at ID with these. Migrant, Common and Emperor always mixed up. Thank for putting me right
  7. Another go at taking in flight shots, it is so addictive
  8. Thanks. A Canon 70-300L Just been told it is more likely an Emperor rather than a Southern Hawker so ID would be welcome.
  9. A few Southern Hawker Emperor shots it seems Not 100% but I think this is a Common Darter please correct me if I am wrong
  10. 300mm and they were a way off so cropped from this so I think I need something longer if going to get serious about these. .
  11. A week apart but in the same spot whilst walking the dogs. I will be leaving the dogs at home a couple of evenings next week to try and get a few more. .
  12. I looks more likely that the 7Dmk2 will be out in September now so it might be worth waiting for that or at least get a 7D when the prices really start to come down. Still think about the 70-300L as it is stunning, I just tried a 70-200mm f2.8 again and sold it within 2 weeks, deciding to keep the 70-300mm
  13. Not as many around my way this year but got a few Enjoy
  14. The 7D has the crop factor which does help with wildlife they are also really cheap 2nd hand sub £500 so very good value. Only downside is over iso800 there is noise. As for a lens I would highly recommend the Canon 70-300L, it is light and compact (relatively) great IQ and stunning IS for under £1000 There is also the Canon 1DMKiv. I got one as it was cheaper than a new 5Diii and it has x1.3 crop factor, it does 10fps if you need it, the battery lasts forever, it is properly waterproof, AF is superior to a 7D by far and more than enough to get anything I have pointed it at sharp 95% o
  15. Very nice the second is my fave
  16. taken in Wales and plenty of them about and crows
  17. It looks like a Red Kite to me Red Kite and Typhoon or is it a crow?

  19. Yep this is it well worth a visit, afternoon is best as they feed the badgers at 3.30 and fly the Owls at 4pm. Thanks for the comments.
