    I've seen similar advice several times and always scratch my head when I see it. If your lucky enough to get a fox into a trap once then catch him. Why would you get him into the trap several times and then decide to trap him ????     one what sticks out for me was on a late winter afternoon before the ban,...............a little bit of a miserable day ...normal walk along the river,...turned into a great bit of sport what involved all the dogs....... dogs noses in the air sniffing with excitement ,............I knew aswell as them ,..............there was some sport across the river ..........the other side this river there is a pub with a field behind it and the field was untouched and I knew occasionally holds one or two in a couple of the shallow earths...........I could rule out deer with ease and could tell by the ex

    if you ask me ,.................scent has nothing to do with stamina,.................lol I think hearing and scent rely on each other in a dog ,.............they are balanced out so well that a dog uses each one when it needs too........and no one will prove different .....

    I nearly lost a lurcher to snake bite,.........come home from walk that night ,......noticed the dog was off its food ,........thought oh well next morning got up and her head was twice the size and motionless ..................£700 later and she was on the mend ...........they couldn't work out why the treatment they used wasn't touching her ,.......so after steroids for snake bite they could see an improvement and as the swelling started going down you could see puncture under her eye .........she has been worth every penny by any ones standards

    The reason she knew there was one in there is because the warren smelt of rabbits ...The reason she knew the hob had killed out in the field is because she could hear it mate .... The dog doesn't walk around over the warren smelling through the ground to locate the rabbit ... It does it through listening ........... what about terriers what try holes ,............they ignore most of them on big places and then always enter the one and find straight away........surely must be the same for lurchers? ( when there marking big warrens )I personally think its a combination of sound and smell I am
