  4. BOLLOX! Please read the following link. http://www.barnowltrust.org.uk/content_ima...nt_Control1.pdf Its logical really, it takes a few days to kill a rat that poison is in them all that time working. How can you not get secondary poisoning? As much as I hate rats I will not advocate the use of poisons. There must be a natural solution. I don't like cats and neither do my dogs and cats also take birds. The sport of shooting them is fine and fun but it isn't going to eliminate them completely if that is possible at all. So I'm perservering with the natural method......
  5. Quite Right. Please identify this pest and tell me whether I can or can't

  8. http://www.hertsandessexobserver.co.uk/her...e.asp?id=387612 It would appear true. Seems a lot of money spent on the exercise! Aren't there far more important issues to address....esp in Harlow! They can't even nail Barrimore for murder! Swampy
  9. I mentioned the Union flag as opposed to the Union jack as there is a distinct difference. Not in appearance or meaning but in the manner in which it is flown. It is only a Union jack when flown from the jack mast of a ship. Thats All Not nining but ears bleeding
  10. The pole or the thread? Swampy ni
  11. Had a shufty about.....I agree it isn't a mink................Could be a X tho'! Who the F knows really! Swampy
  12. wbrc.org.uk/WorcRecd/Issue7/polecat.htm Interesting! Swampy www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?act=findpost&pid=397174 And the above also.. Checked out a load of stuff on the interweb......There is a load of rubbish talked about polecats on this forum Not saying who tho'.....You know who you are!
  13. Judging by the posts....and there are a fair few. No one person knows exactly what it was. (Difficult when its faceless!) You could argue that if you "don't know, don't shoot" I was just saying (clumsily, I admit,) that if it definately had been a mink then I would probably would have shot it. Polecat, No, X possibly yes, but when its down a hole how the hell is anyone going to know? So no, you're right it probably shouldn't have been shot until it had been identified correctly. 14. In fairness, I think I'd have shot him (had I carried a shotgun or similar). Mink have a fearsome reputation for dessimating fish stocks, chickens, pheasant anything really. They're not good for the enviroment in any numbers. I remember when some animal rights activists broke into a mink farm and released loads into the wild. Nigh on destroyed the natural balance of nature. They'll kill anything and if they can't it wont stop it trying! Swampy
  15. Thanks for that. Out again this w/e. to get some pics for the compo. Good luck Sturday Swampy Ning
  16. Any chance this can be extended, so that folk have a chance to get out there for perhaps the last hunt of the season. Also getting a good picture when your trying to exticate a coney from a net isn't going to happen unless you have a spectator. Besides there are some quality shots in previous posts so the bar has been raised for a lot of us. Grand idea tho' Swampy
  17. The shed in question is used as an office. Its quite warm and is about 4" of the ground. It is supprorted by four concrete bases and the rest is unmade ground. Its quite clean underneath, with evidence of some holes polssible entrances to a nest. Its well away from the house and bins. Whether they are using it as a stop off on route to somewhere else> there are droppings but no food remains. There is no evidence they have actually got inside. Bloody clever things. I hope my neighbour can put up with the smell. Put some shi*e down Sunday evening but haven't spoken to him about it yet. Keep
  18. What about a ferretPolecat X have heard of it before..........Just trying to be uncontraversial Swampy Diplomatically Nining Quite possible. Poleys & ferrets interbreed freely when they are in the same areas. Have heard of polecat/ferret X. Do mink breed with ferrets? Or is it like with birds i.e Blackbirds don't bread with thrush? 21. 10yrs MN.....OK not exactly "the forces" unless it was the RFA (blue ensign mob) but I did volunteer and go to the Falklands and to the gulf during the Iraq v Iran war. Nice to see people calling it the union flag and not the union jack. Swampy Ninging since Stanley
  22. Completely Ignorant and should be avoided

  23. I have one (22) and reckon they're a good all rounder. Could be considered a tad on the heavy side but suits me as I feel I get a more stable shot. Very robust gun, well built and looks the part. I also have an really old Airsporter under lever. Same opinion although its getting a bit tired now. Swampy Ninging
  24. That pic needs removing! What is the point of Shooting a bird like that?!!! Some people just don't learn Swampy Furiously Ninging!
  25. Was it open ground? Or hedges? Touch wood I haven't had to dig for any of mine yet! The idea of digging under a hawthorn hedge in the middle of winter in the pouring rain fills me a dread that wont go away no matter how much cider I consume! Swampy Ning
