  3. Just a couple of things Butch. That overhanging tree could cause problems. I don't know what type it is but they can drip poisons into the pond. Also the roots may spread and damage the liner. If you can get your hands on some puddle clay it would be good underneath the liner. It is quite pricey tho' Probably a bit late now tho'. Just my view mind Good luck Swampy swimming and ninging
  4. Those tracks look suspiciously like a "kubota" has been close..............Shouldn't have taken a day with one of those! Swampy Ning
  5. Awwite Tom, I knew you wouldn't let me down. I think the addage "you can please some of the people........etc etc" applies here. To be honest I did two years of history at school and then dropped it.......good job really as I would never have failed the subjects I did take so spectacularly had I continued with it! I vaguely remember being taught the Tudors and the Elizabethans and touching on WWI but as my memory is as bad now as it was then I couldn't be certain! I'm that old that WWI was probably "current affairs" rgds Swampy ninging with old age
  6. On This Day Add a Story to this feed Remove a story from this feed 1305: Robert the Bruce is crowned king of the Scots and will lead a successful rebellion against the English. A good day for Fox gun methinks Ning Swampy

Absolutely 100% Cock on mate! I'm sure Max Clifford really is upset.............he's going to have to find another money cow now. However in todays society where we seem to "Luuuv" the celebrbity he will not find it hard. I for one did not "celebrate" her life nor her death. It must be insulting for all the normal, clever, moral, talented women who are in the same predicament. I'm just glad the "circus" is over.......well nearly, I'm sure Max has a few more quid to squeeze out of it somehow. Swampy SAD BUT TRUE Kinell, You agree with me?!!!!!!!! Swampy
  8. Yes WE most certainly did! Swampy Ning back atcha
  9. So was this a good day or a bad day 406 years ago? Just saw this and thought it would be interesting to see the reaction. I may even get another history lesson from Fox gun?!!! 1603: Elizabeth I dies and is succeeded by James VI of Scotland, unifying the English and Scottish crowns. Rgds Swampy ning
  10. Thanks for that. Yes I'm quite (very) proud of him. I'm afraid the only experience I have had with dogs prior to the Vizsla were Cocker Spaniels. I have worked on the principle that spending time with them and being patient should work with all breeds. If you get to know a dog and understand how his/her mind works it helps. My Vizsla is obviously still a pup but seems to want to learn and please so I try and make it fun for him. Treats seem to work almost instantaneously, retrieving a dummy to hand took one treat (small piece of chicken). He does it about 4 times out 5 and then he want

  14. Have trained a few cockers myself and would agree with the above axcept the sitting bit. I have always found that cockers are slightly "cooler" temperate dogs compared to springers. I reckon they think more before acting. I did avoid pedigrees and went for the less pure tho'. Bloody ears were a pain for burrs and infections. If they're disobedient, check thir ears. It may be because the're temporarily deaf! Swampy

  17. Gary, Took this one today. Can't tell you how much I love this dog. He's going to be an absolute cracker. I love the way he responds better to gentle cajoling rather than harsh shouting and discipline. Pointed two partridge and a hen pheasant on this outing......how the hell do they know what to do, I never taught him! Still insists on going under fences and style rather than over, but thats probably because he's all legs at the moment. regards Swampy happily ninging

  19. Gary, I've just got a Viszla pup (16 weeks). He's an absolutly fantastic dog. He'll retrieve a dummy, he's got a great nose and good eyes, he'll chase rabbits to the point of nailing them but just wants to play with them, he'll return to three pips on the whistle but will he walk to heel? will he f as like! I've read a lot of your posts and you seem to know what your talking about, you certainly appear to have the experience. So, am I asking to much of him at such an early age? I've read that they don't mature mentally until about two. Oh yeah and I forgot to mention he has the concentration

  24. I mentioned the Union flag as opposed to the Union jack as there is a distinct difference. Not in appearance or meaning but in the manner in which it is flown. It is only a Union jack when flown from the jack mast of a ship. Thats All Not nining but ears bleeding With all due repect,s swampy. What history book,s have you been reading.I will tell you what catcher say,s.Fist of all it,s the union jack,Flag never heard of it.You call it a union. Then dismiss Wales just because Edward the first (The so called hammer of the Scot,s)stole the land that he had no rigth to rule over
