    Very true, they also listen, my very first lurcher (pre locator days) would mark above where the ferret and rabbit were laid up, he'd scratch the ground above, he couldn't smell them so he must have listened, he was rarely wrong. I've never had a dog since who could do that. Very good point that, on our last outing my dog was showing a lot of interest to a certain patch of grass, I stuck my hand through the grass and soil and pulled out a rabbit with a ferret attached to it, Had Col as my witness, bizarre...

    Have you ever wondered what dogs can smell??? how the hell can they smell if a rabbit is down a hole 8 foot underground??? it's beyond me.

    get the ferrets under mate and get the rabbits out, chances are they are just under the she itself and haven't dug beep burrows.

    Never trained my dog to mark warrens, he just sticks his head down, wimpers and starts digging, he has even bolted rabbits with his persistance

    Well it's very unlikely you will get any permission sat there on the computer, get up off your butt, get some smart/casual clothes on and get knocking on farmers doors once you get your foot in the door of the first one the rest usually follow Good luck

    Hiya people, next year I will be looking for a 4x4 for getting up to our farms on, all our permissions are on high ground and have to go across the moors and back roads to get there, The vehicle won't really be used for going off road but some of the dirt tracks to the farms are really really bad meaning we can't get anywhere near our permissions in the winter, i'ved had a good look around and quite like the look of the daihatsu fourtrak, how much do they cost to run/maintain and what is fuel economy like?     force your finger into it's mouth mate, trust me on this one, I have done it with many a viscous ferret, there's no ferret that can't be tamed, don't be hesitant when going to pick it up as any sudden movements will scare it.

    we also blagged a few mixies, once we get the ferrets properly sorted we will be in for some half decent bags, if we wanted to yesterday we could of got a lot lot more but it's more of a learning curve for the dog at the moment which will come into it's own when the hard weather hits us. Does anyone know how we can ferret the large set in the pictures, you cant miss it haha Also can anyone tell us what is small(ish) and has white eyes with a white lamp I have certainly never seen it before and couldn't get a proper look at it through the scope. anyway here is a few randoms from yes
