  5. good luck mate ........ hope the dog makes a full recovery .
  6. Probably can take some deerhound crosses to mature up to two years, especially some males, but this certainly dosnt mean they dont start to work till that age, Ive had a couple of first crossers, a bitch and a dog, both were killing rabbits before a year old, the dog acted like a pup till he was 3, but Ive seen some saluki crosses that acted like pups all their lives but killed well, on the fens, grab the bitch by the scruff of the neck she would squeal the place down, but she ripped fox to bits. Every pure bred deerhound that Ive also owned killed before a year old, the best modern day cours
  7. They can take a while to come into there own but any cross can .... You wont ever question the length of time or patience when you see a right one going...Imo there well worth waiting for. i was speaking from experience .... a good friend of mine owned a very handy deerhound x , he had the dog given to him as a jacker that was about to be shot . the thing was this ... the dog was no jacker just a little to young to pull fox (preban) but when he came to his own there was no faulting the dog both day time and night .... but like i say you need to be able and patient enough to wait
  8. rings here rings there rings every fecking where ........... whats the problem dude ????
  9. a deerhound or a deerhound cross can sometimes take 2 years to mature and start to show interest in working ...... a good question to ask yourself is have you the time and patience to wait that long ????

  11. it is so true to form on this site .... a well known dog gets mentioned and everyone is an expert ..... as much as i will say on the matter is this ........ i have met dread in person and i trust what the man says . now he has owned up to breeding the occasional jacker so what big deal if there where more breeders out there with a set a balls enough to man up perhaps the dog world would not be so screwed up in this country ........... as for the guy on this thread thats shouting his mouth off about having a puch line jacker well tough s**t pal but from what you been saying a jacker is all you
