I always thought the ones like these that aspired to be gypsy's were didicoys? My cousin tried to be one for a while, big daft 9ct keeper ring that covered half his finger, full sovereign and big heavy gold chain. He used carry a wad of notes around and make a show of getting it out at any excuse. Silly sod lol Disicoys are travellers who are not of Romany dissent from what I've always been told like when a Romany man marries a non Romany woman Cheers Cushty, I'll remember that.

Showmen and gypsys mixed a lot more freely a few generations back and are closer related than people think but we are different I got family in Ashford and feltham mate what yards are you near? Hi mate, I live right near the yard which you get to down the side of Clockhouse Lane Park. Do you mean bobby Rawlings place as your coming from bedfont over the bridge turn left down the little lane by the side of the park Yes that's the place :-)

Very interesting. There are a lot traveling showman and settled gypsy's in my town, Ashford Middlesex. My mother lived next door to a yard where the Lee family lived that were showman, my mum and nan talked about them with great affection. Just talked to my mum and she said as a child she was always in there yard, even used to go and help out at the fair with them when local. She said they were lovely people.
