  4. So you haven't seen hares chopped just out of their seats ,before they are able to get into their stride?Folk law my arse. Nowadays, and for many years, fair law hasen't and does not come into it. And for me, as a non courser, can't see it happening. I want my dog to catch what it's running, not just chase it then see me waving it goodbye, it's hunting to me, not sport or fun As I said twice ,"each to their own," but would you get the same satistaction out of your dog making a catch of a hare that has been kicked up under your feet and caught immediately ,as a catch that happen

  7. Said it before and I'll say it again, I wouldn't give anything an inch, it's not sport or testing your dog or whatever, it's HUNTING, and the quicker your dog can catch something the better. And whilst I can appreciate coursing dogs etc, I can also see where antis etc get alot of their ammunition from. The sooner people stop calling hunting 'sport' the better If you aren't giving a hare any "law", ie, a chance to get up out of it's seat, and into it's stride, I wouldnt call it hunting either. I'd call it murder, but each to their own I suppose, When you go ferreting do you wait until

  11. I'm not disputing that the depth of competition is greatly reduced, but two winning bitches of recent years were very good dogs. To say otherwise is ridiculous. all right everyone going on about it saying how good the dogs are but we cant even see with our own eyes then they come on this site saying how good there dogs are whats the point off having this cup I'm referring to two bitches that I have seen with my own eyes .Have you seen with your own eyes all the dogs that your refer to as" NO GOOD"?

  13. Glad to hear his dogs are sorted, I believe Lou was out with Don when I matched him on his land. Don always took pride in his physical fitness , I can understand, and respect his last action.
  14. Ive had one or two problems when others have entwined and twisted barbed wire strands together to leave a gap in the middle . I've had two dogs try and go through the gap,one just skinned his back, but the other ripped his backlegs and his sheath on the lower strand.if people must do this why cant they put the fence back as it was when they found it?
  15. I think your instincts were spot onTomo .Time and a place etc. I was out with a couple of my dogs some years ago, we were on a country lane, so dogs were leashed up,I found a fox who had been hit by a car, both back legs smashed. I tied the dogs up some way off, and despatched it with a length of iron bar I found. If it had been flushed from cover, and was ok I would have slipped the dogs on it, but it didn't seem right at the time. A quick blow to the skull put it out of its misery
  16. Don't think its the dogs ignorance that's to blame here.
  17. P, I phoned R and gave him the sad news, .
  18. Terrible news ,like you I go back some years with Don,a real old gentleman. I'm very pleased that Mr Darcy managed to include a fine tribute to Don in his latest book, "A Passion For Coursing". Very fitting, because thats exactly what it was for Don, a passion. RIP Old Fella.
