  1. Where I live it depends on the vet.My son had a litter of Springer spaniels and went to at least half a dozen different vets until he found one who would dock the pups.
  2. Aye he looks like a border.
  3. How long is a piece of string? Any terrier from working parents is ok. I have used Lakeland fell terriers,Patterdales and Russells and had no problems with any of them.
  4. Hi there, great place Cumbria,i spend a lot of time up there.I used to go out with the Coniston hunt quite abit.
  5. Welcome mate, nice little dog there.I used to keep Lakelands and Russels.
  6. No I don't like poachers. The ones who just take the odd rabbit or pheasant for the pot are not so bad,but the other sort who take everything they can are a menace.I was a gamekeeper for several years and had quite a few confrontations with these sort, they have threatened me and also my wife and family, some of the things they have said are unreapeatable. One of my sons is still a keeper and he has also had trouble with the organised gangs of poachers.
  7. The little village where I live is changing fast.Several large expensive houses have been built over the last couple of years, these are being bought by rich city folk. These people seem to think they own the whole village, but anyway, the other day I was taking my young lurcher out for an evening walk when I met some of these new folk coming towards me.I nodded and said hello, all I got was a grunt and a black look.As I walked on a bit I overheard one of the men say to his wife,'he must be one of the local poachers.' I let the remark pass but a couple of nights later I was in the village pub when
  8. Hi Dave, welcome,i have had Lurchers and ferrets for most of my life.Great being out in the fields and woods.
  9. Hi,welcome.I believe there's good hunting in your part of the world.
  10. Hi welcome, there's some good guys on here, one or two rum un's as well.
  11. It was Saturday night,my Mrs was watching one of the worst programmes on tv,x factor,so i decided to walk down to the pub in the village. When i set of there was abit of a breeze blowing but nothing serious. After 2 or 3 pints i thought i had better go home.As i left the pub the breeze had turned into a gale,i had only walked about 50 yards when a sudden gust whipped me best cap of me ead,oh heck,it was me favorite cap an all,it was dark and after a quick look around i thought sod it i'll come back in the morning for a better look.Anyway i got home ok and eventually went to bed.During the night
  12. I havn't seen the programme but i have a pen friend who lives in the Yukon,he often tells me about hunting bears, and about wolves attacking farm stock,it sounds like a place where men are men and women are glad of it .
  13. I only look at the pictures nowadays.
  14. A few years ago i had a springer pup,we were out shooting wood pigeon and an older dog was retreiving the birds while the pup just watched. After a while mu son made the mistake of letting the pup go for a bird,no problem, the pup ran out and picked up a pigeon which unfortuanatly wasn't dead,as the pup was returning with the bird it whacked him in the face with a wing and that was it,the pup dropped the bird and from that day on refused to pick up feathered game,a promising dog ruined, but we did use him for flushing out pheasants for many years.
