The last pic on 2 looks like one's peeing on the other one! P.S I hope you've got a trap down for the little b***ards!

I'm sure you'll be welcomed with open arms if you ask any keeper if you can fly a trained Buzzard around his release pens ...........Open choke more likely! You may scare the wild Buzzards off, but what do you think the poults will make of it?

If you mean a game license. It has not been a requirement to hold a game licence to kill or deal in game in England and Wales since 1 August 2007. You would not get 'shooting at night' put on your FAC or SGC, as you would a moderator. Though Natural England can issue licenses to shoot Deer at night. Or in Scotland the DCS can issue written authorisation for such.

I think it's just a matter of opinion I may have missinterpreted but it sounds like you're missunderstanding the principle of the trap jumping, and you think it's a flaw that needs to be countered by placing a ceiling over it. It is actually intended to jump in order to decrease foul catches, by ensuring the animal is fully enclosed within the jaws as they close. A low tunnel roof can reduce the efficiency of this operation. And they're certainly not designed to pin the animal against the roof as some people believe. Width rather than height of tunnel is far more conducive to consisten -
What double standards? They aren't hiding the fact that the research is for the 'game industry'. So what is your point? Well one example would be that apparently we can't hunt foxes with dogs anymore because it is considered cruel...unless you are protecting game birds. I consider that to be completely mental, why isn't it OK to hunt a fox for killing chickens or lambs or for sport? Then this example, no-one has raised any issues suggesting buzzards are too common and are in any way damaging the ecosystem and have been a protected species for years, with fines dealt for people killing t

if your catching by the back end , you need to make the rats hit the plate with thier front feet, not their back feet, so either a jump stick front and back or set your trap more fickle, the laws covering traps and tunnels are a bit scetchy at the best of times, but setting in open buildings cannot be counted as a tunnel , i,m sure the laws have just recently bin re-worded , fenn have a guide line for setting a positioning fenns , in it , it says there should be no more than half inch clearence as the trap jumps, we all get foul catches from time to time , but placing in the correct sized tu -

And probably wouldn't stand up as a defence in court. Whereas the setting situations I describe would! -

This particular Rat had avoided entering any tunnel containing a trap, this was proved by many hours of video footage. I could've simply shot it on several occsasions but I like to get to know my quarry as much as possible, and even after many years there's always something more to learn, so I tried different set ups and videod them to see the results. The Rat 'stumbling about' was in fact it being extremely cautious and wary of the trap, but in the end it couldn't resist the chocolate spread on the underside of the tradle plate! -

a tunnel does not have to be a tunnel as such, inside a building could be classed as a tunnel,as could inside a drain or on the inside of a hole. Thanks for answering that paulus . Legally the trap has not to be set 'in the open'. The trap in the video was behind a sheet of corrugated steel leant against a fence. There was 1 1/2 inch wire mesh at both ends to exclude larger animals and birds, so the trap was set within legal requirements. -

Here's a link to a video which I shot a few years ago which demonstrates how a correctly set Fenn will jump and catch efficiently regardless of ceiling height. -
yes kenny I tried various speeds & settled at 1 second , the longer the exposure the more cluttered the result was , I just used a 99p fibre optic light thing from the quid shop the not quite a pound shop then  i went in one last week and aked how much is this, and the dark gentleman replied £1.75 Ask a silly question, get a silly answer! I bet he thought - 'I'll teach this fair skinned joker a little lesson here'

That's not the intention, and though they are designed to jump when sprung, they shouldn't be hitting the ceiling. A correctly set Fenn should be able to catch no matter how high the ceiling. The Fenn trap was designed to kill within the confines of the tunnel or hole, not to be used with free space above it. I have categoric proof of that in the form of development documents written by the inventor (amongst other things) So, the Fenn does have to be set so that it can fire cleanly but no more, big holes or tunnels are no good, simple as that. OTC The 'tunnel' is purely a -

That's true, and it makes me so mad that anyone should feel that we have to hide the realities of what we do. That's half the reason the majority of the public see Foxes, Grey Squirrels etc as sweet, cuddly creatures that do no harm to anything. -
They're certainly different Kay. Are they lights on a slow shutter speed?
