Thanks for the replies lads. I cant remember seeing many fleas on them. And they also seemed pretty plump and the three i have skinned seemed to have abit meat on( hope i find out if they o.k. to eat pretty soon as me grandad is having one for he's tea tomoorow :sick: ) Cheers, Liam.. When they have got to that point Liam, they are over the disease, and have put weight back on. It should be fine for your gramps to eat.

The difference is mate a knockout punch you know nothing about so of course it doesnt hurt....a hard body shot is real physical pain theres a big difference....hatton throws a great body shot but is not a concussive knockout puncher,dont take my word for it check his record over the last 6 or 7 years !....if he was a knockout puncher there would be plenty of 1 and 2 round knockouts....theres not....doesnt make him any less of a fighter though. a body shot ko is still a ko and hurts alot more most ov his fights won by ko and you dont know bout a body shot till it puts you on your arse and b

If you can avoid the summer ferreting, you'll end up with a lot of dead babies and the does won't even go near the babies again if they get away without bieng found. It's just wrong to be honest, you may as well just gas the animals. But saying that, if there is a job to do, i'd not hold it against any man.

Course Hatton's a knockout puncher, he just hit's bits that don't get knocked out, and get's knockouts! Ask anybody who's been in the ring what hurts most, one in the ribs or one in the skull? Hatton rd 9. (but it will be real scrappy!)

Net's? Eh? What are they? Sorry just ignore me, I think digging is fun! I do use them sometimes, and like a few have said already, a large 4' net will cover 2 -3 close holes sometimes, pretty usefull. Not had any of these nets, but sure they will be good enough as long as they purse up!

The younger the rabbits are , the easier they bolt. Get to this point in the season, and the strong rabbits stick with the game plan that has worked until now, and fight it out. It takes good ferrets to move these, or the spade to dig them out when they dont move. This is what happens every year! Keep that blade moving!

I suppose it's down to the lack of netting up needed to be done mate, only set them in the tricky spots. Sometimes we can get a mark, have the hob down to hit and hold, turn the sod in the time it takes to set 6 nets. You know yourself as well up there, you may only get one rabbit out a 12 holer, it's a lot of messing for 1 rabbit when the dogs can pick them up if they do bolt. (but yes the carry box does weigh a bit, and some of the busting through the rocks can be a pain.)

It takes a lot to take out the quirky little ways of anything with a russel in it. Especially a male. You may find you have to up your discipline beyond what you think is reasonable to get a result. But i do like the idea that blackpack came up with though, can see that having some effect.

From what you have said about the large warren, i think a 50 yrd longnet would be the best option. But obviously, you are wanting to go a step further with the running dogs as well! A pure whippet will do the job, and do it well. If you need a little more durability then think about a cross, maybee collie type, but don't be afraid to just get a bigger collie/ grey, they will not take up much more space! a dog is a dog, big or small!

Forgot about that trick, we used to do that as kids with the 9volters, i'll get the old man to try it, it may put some life back into him!

Only let them eat untill they leave the food on the day before, (Ie don't leave food in there cage, just let them eat outside the cage till full.) and don't feed them on the day. It may help. But it does sound like something else was up to be honest.

If she's been out all day, she's probably had enough, and bieng only 12 month old i'd only give her light work. The dog is probably knackered.

i was out today for a bit of bolting to the gun and i know what you mean about the snow... feckin well hard to walk up hill, like some one tied lead weights round my ankles!!!! these jills i have are bloody dynamite. they catch more than we shoot. spending more time with the shovel in my hand than the shotgun! Want to swap them for a couple of vegetarian jills then Chez? lol do you have any tips on how i can get the rabbits to bolt quicker brimmer or do i try getting some other ferrets? most of my ferrets are from the same line and all work the same. is it possible to get ferrets wi
