  1. Shame the stoat bought it, like the rascals myself. (just wish i had a tribe of the hand tamed rascals at my beck and call!)
  2. F##k me i'd rather take the rat out hunting. Think 1 on 1 the rat would have had the dog whimpering in the corner! And you would post that up?
  3. Watched the third, get the critter back in where the beddie is, it knows where the bunny is!
  4. Watched the second, the beddie whippet knows where it is!
  5. Ok watched the first one, get yer arm in!
  6. Not a gun man, don't know whether that would spoil a gun dog taking it rabbiting, but I used to use a mates yellow lab years ago on rock piles for marking, pinpoint accuracy with that snout!
  7. Without a doubt. One of the best markers going! Anything with a decent snout on it will mark if brought up that way. (also terriers as well))
  8. It looks like it has been frozen then dumped. animals eye's cloud over just like that after bieng put in the freezer and defrosted.
  9. Don't stop it before it's started! If it goes down this route i know it can be annoying when they disturb some rabbits and they don't see them bolt for the commotion they are causing, let it get marking a while first before you check the dog, then when it's a little more experienced at it, then start to physically move the dog back telling it to stay back. Just a case of not putting it off before it's started.
  10. Never encourage a dog nor praise a dog for marking otherwise they will false mark i you cant train a lurcher to sit at the opening and wait? or i am i looking for too much? CHEERS FOR THE REPLIES SO FAR What kind of dog have you got davieboy? They all have different ways of marking, i've seen some just stand over the holes looking at them. It's not too important how they do it, as long as you know somethings at home!

  12. It should come naturally to a dog, and should not have to be trained to do it. Just bolting rabbits without nets will encourage it though, especially a young dog. Reading the dog is something you have to learn on each dog though, some will tear the holes out from one extreme to others will simply stop and linger for a second or so at the other extreme. Each dog is different.
  13. Tell you what lads, The lads pissed off and you probably aint helping much, and this aint making great reading. What do you suggest he does, put it down to experience and let the theiving little gits have his other one as well? If anyone pinched anything off me i wouldn't just stand by and watch I can assure you. They may have escaped or they may have been nicked, cut the lad some slack chaps.
  14. Good luck with it, hope it goes to plan for you by the way. You may want more than the odd buck just in case, and i'd just try releasing wildies in the area (and keep it quiet) without breeding them all in captivity. And try to keep people off them for a few seasons
  15. Sounds like kids at work Brad, hope they get there fingers bitten. And yes I'd smash the out of anybody who tried to take mine.
  16. Hang on, looking at the other bit you posted up, are you BR?
  17. The does are all vaccinated against myxi. this imunity should travel through to the offspring . Take a look at the gamekeeping and conservation section under rabbit rearing No immunity will be passed on through the vaccination process, it never is. Only genetic make up will do this.
  18. Merry Chrismas & a happy new year Merry xmas back at you Kay and a happy new year as well!
  19. If you're cheeky you're getting the snip!
  20. A ferret likes a bit of space to move around in, and feel a little bit free! You don't ned anything elaborate to start with, just dry clean and a bit of space will do the job. (but like Stealthy said, they will get out in a second if it's not secure!)
  21. Was thinking of building a court over xmas anybo@#?Y~} :vava: Ok i'll keep me trap shut!
  22. Start with the biggest step first, the housing and the food source. When you have that in place then give us all a shout on here! (the caged area needs to be dry and clean, with a bedding area, plus a decent food source and clean water all the time!)
