  1. Cracking day by the looks of things. Some great ferreting reports of late. And yes the russell type dog does look a little bit westie! If it marks up, then thats all anyone can ask of it!
  2. Nice one Stealthy, there's always something else apart from the rabbiting that takes a mans interest! Those poleys will be getting on a bit now mate, are you going to expand for next season?
  3. Nice one Matty, some good big bunnys there!
  4. Its a fun way to do business, been years since i was bolting to guns. Good Job.
  5. At last, almost a decent day out today after the best part of two seasons sitting on our hands. Hello guys from a few years ago if you are still there, and hello to any new fellers on here. As i said, the 'sitting on our hands' was for one reason only, to let the rabbit numbers at least grow to a workable level since the deadly winter snow that hit In Dec 2009 and hung around on the high ground until Feb 2010. Last season 2010/2011 we hoped for the numbers to have recovered a little bit, but only probs 3 trips out with maybee half a dozen rabbits, me and the old feller thought it b
  6. The dog looks like its come straight from hell and sent the fox back there! Awesome.
  7. Probably make finding a working type a bit easier if the pet dogs are easy to spot.
  8. I know its a bit cliche, but give it time. Some will go on biting throughout there lives but most will give it up. Even the ones that dont can even be predictable. As a rule, if a bite dont hurt, they dont mean anything by it.
  9. Wow thats an awesome fish. Hope the size of the fish continues to grow in the water. Have there always been big perch in the water or do you think the latest crop of 6lb plus fish are at a peak when everything in there favour is just falling into place? (Maybee small bait fish in large numbers, not many other predators around.). Hope it continues anyhow!
  10. First approach like Gnipper said is a route a few folk including myself have gone down. It seems harsh and brutal , but what do you do, Give up? If you give up the dog is no good to you, And probs the next man that owns it. Sometimes the severe problem needs a severe answer.
  11. Anyway, back on topic, the old man has just acquired his first batch of pink nets!   At 72 yrs old i told him its a bit to late to come out of the closet! Cannot wait for the first day out, its going to be priceless! Seriously though, over the last few years he can leave the odd net behind, this should sort the problem. PS By the way, i'm sure the colour of a net wont make a difference to a rabbit with a set of fangs stuck in it's butt, and lots of rabbits will bolt with noise above ground,(but it does keep a few down). The main sticking point of a r
  12. It was always going to happen wasn't it! The start of the season, and as if somebody is toying with us, the hottest weather in months!
  13. Tight wad  get with the times Big B I'd maybee take that comment from a man with a bag full of nylon nets!
  14. Take a look in the mirror!! Cannot argue with that!
  15. Nice one Stealthy, looks like the bitch has settled into the job, and the jill you got all those years back is saving the savage work for the bunnies. Nice one matey.
  16. Thank god Mick Dadd has sorted our old mk 1 boxes out, should have another ten years out of the five boxes at least. Was not looking forward to getting a mk3, at least for a good while i wont have to now. Whats wrong with simple.
  17. Awesome result. Good on you Malt, and Ideation for the positive work, just as the season is kicking off. I'll be keeping things up to date this season now, hope there's a few to go at, out prospecting on our land tmoz, going for a walk through the lot, and hopefully out to do the business the week after. Well done guys.
  18. Nice write up. Looks like the kits are doing you proud! Hopefully will be out in the next few weeks ourselves, its almost cold enough!
  19. I would say i'd prefer that everytime no matter how dull it is, compared to the two years of dribble and arguements over things that have been nothing to do with the working ferret.
  20. Must admit sterling work Ideation, and for the rest of the positive folk on here that would like to see a good site like it used to be. I think Malt would be a great mod, also yourself, Andy Or Stealthy, all keen ferreters, out year after year, who know a good bit about the game. Think a hardline approach to the modding would be a good solution, rather than subsections. I know the fluffys and the pet owners would not like this, but it needs a common sense approach from the lads who work them. If that means the odd therad about crossbreeds and ferals then so be it, but any silliness needs s
  21. Even a simple walk can make something worth reading Ideation, thanks for putting the post up.
  22. Yep, holding back untill its a tad cooler, but its getting close.
  23. Just as a matter of interest, and wont be dragged into any arguement, i'd like to ask what the test results would show? Would they conclusivley reveal that for deffo a ferret was suffering any ill effects due to not being mated, Or just increased levels of this and that, which could cause harm through that and this? See my point? theres a lot of talk about it could and does, but not many folk can tell you.anything but hype, and rarely do. (one post told of a few symptoms, but do they prove it is due to this?). Anyway, being safe never hurt anyone, so the measures taken cannot be ignored,
