  1. I must admit I wouldn't be so blasé without this GPS system. I know that I've already said it but it's a game changer and I would say a must for anyone flying a pursuit falcon.
  2. Yes I must admit when I got out of the truck I did question myself, am I doing the right thing, lol. But then I always think ah well you've got to be in it to win it. I remember when I was young going out with guys that wouldn't fly their birds in the wind. Then one of them accidently let go of his hawk and it was gone down wind like a rocket we spent a long time trying to get it back and he was crapping himself. My belief is that if he had flown his hawk in high wind it would have got fitness and confidence and learnt how to handle it. I think its a great way to get your bird fit and aft
  3. Due to the wind it's the fastest speed that she has clocked to date. Kill 37
  4. Quick slip between heavy showers. Kill 36 ?
  5. Ideal keep me posted. If ever your down this way let me know and I'll sort you a look out.
  6. Thanks mate she's a joy to keep to be honest and very rewarding to fly, I've had far more sport with her than I expected to.
  7. Always good to see them.
  8. Yes a gull would be a bit of a handful, it would probably take a feral as less of a struggle. Still nice to watch though.
  9. Another straight forward flight but a good confidence builder, Kill 35
  10. Similar to yesterday short and sweet, but a nice strong and direct flight with a mid air bind.
  11. Thanks, they have a bigger wing span but she has the power and the knack to deal with them.
  12. Very high winds today. Couldn't resist though lol, short and sweet, mid air bind and kill 33 in the bag ?
  13. Its strange how pics on mobiles can be distorted the closer one is bigger but not by much. I do think that you are correct though as the one that she is eating had a lot of the primaries still in the blood.
  14. A strange one today. Slipped her in high wind, drizzle, wet and windy with intermittent visibility. She disappeared into the fog on her gull, we were tracking her for a couple of hours I suppose. Then suddenly the magic box said sitting. We honed in on her walking across a valley, and there she was with two crows side by side and both still warm. I would say that she was probably plucking her kill and was being mobbed and one of the antagonists got too close and he paid the penalty, lol. Kill 31 & 32.
  15. A nice direct flight showing great commitment and a high mid air bind. Kill 30 in the bag ?
  16. GWP he's used as a hawking dog and for marking vermin to ground on shoots etc. Reportedly they are the most versatile of the HPR breeds and are very adaptable for a multitude of duties.
  17. No not at all it handles the wind well to be honest. It was one of those flights that was over quite quickly, its always impressive when they bind to them high in the air.
  18. Had one slip today and a nice flight with a high mid air bind, Kill 29.
  19. Thats it all wildlife gets familiar with items that they regularly encounter but doesn't harm them, they learn to ignore them. Corvids however can quickly associate a certain vehicle that the falconer or shooter arrives in, the same as they can tell if you are carrying a gun or a stick.
  20. It can have its uses at times, its surprising how sometimes you can get closer to them if they're used to the farmer driving around checking and feeding stock.
  21. It was bad here I sat around waiting for it to blow out then just went for it as it eased slightly. You can still get some action slipping a dry bird from the truck ?
  22. Today heavy rain, got off work early and wanted to get a kill. First slip hell of a flight on a gull, I saw them fall to the ground when I got to the bird no kill. I think it slipped into the swollen river and made its escape. Bird now wet, I nearly called it a day. Found a ploughed field with a mixture of crows and gulls, thought I'd give it one last go. A decent flight and picked her up on Kill 28 ?
  23. Thanks ? She's 1/2 peregrine 3/8 saker 1/8 gyr
