  4. Went out the night before last after a few foxes on a very large sheep farm in my village. Spotted a fox about 150yards away, walked up close with rifle and got with about 50yards and shot was taken. .22LR STINGER straight to the hear and the fox dropped in a bundle with no kick or nothing, text book shot. Inspected the fox and there were signs of cubs suckling on her teets. They wont belong now untile we see them above ground. Going back tot he same farm to night as fox had taken 2 lambs over night, will let you know how we get on. Whippeter.
  5. Anyone seen any cubs above ground lately? Was out on the weekend with 2 mates. 1 of then reckoned they saw two youngsters bolt from cover but im not sure. I did see a fox that came running about 10yards away but i had the rifle and wasnt a safe shot. Just curious guys and girls.
  6. Variable Can dim it right down and not blind the animal with a full beam and just use a small amount of light which is VERY handy when trying to call a fox or walk up to a rabbit.

  10. Either a CZ and most rimfire owners will tell you, they are the shizz when a trigger kit is fitt or if you have got the extra cash a Anshutz 1517 with a 14" barrel. The triggers are amazing and they are very accurut guns.
  11. Just ordered one off Bushwear.co.uk for £172.09, will hopefully come soon, will then try it out on the weekend up the estate.
  12. Just another option mate but did you think of going down the custom gun route, for the money your gonna spend you could get an excellent build, And something rather unique to you... Snap. I did have a glance at it, but im that sort of person where is I decided on what the gun would look like, it given them the design and then i probally wouldnt like it, where as the TH Hunter rifle i find has got everything i need for foxing. Thumb Hole Synthetic stock, Fluttered barrel ( if thats the word) i think its the right gun for me to be honest, but you never know, i may take that windy, uniq
  13. Hi lads an ladies. Been thinking of what 22-250 C/F rifle i will be buying wehn it comes to a variation, doing some early research so i can save enought money for what i want. Basically i want a VERY accurate rifle, robust, solid and reliable. The only make i could really be happy with is an RPA Internation Thumbhole Hunter (See Link) RPA TH HUNTER I know there pricey (£2900 + VAT) BUT theres is a good reason for that i suppose. What im really after is someone to share there expericance with this/these rifles. Iv not actually handled one but thinking of taking a trip up to
  14. Hi matey, lot of untrue answer here but heres the law on the subject. You have to be 14 or over to recive a FAC certificate and must be 14 or over to be GIVEN a firearm related to the one that you can AQUIRE on you're FAC certificate. You must be 14 or over to go out UN-SUPERVISED ( although it is likely that they will attach a condition to you;re license where you must go out with a mentor, someone who has already got a FAC or the same caliber or larger to show you rifle safety or and safe shooting) this can last from 6 months to 12 months. Bit of a pain if you ask me. When you r
  15. 410 is a perfect tool for lamping rabbits, but fox's its not such a good idea, you will have a good night out with one and they are very effective on a dark, windy night on rabbits but fox's you will not a 12 for a good foxing shotgun If you're going down the moderator road then the Baikal hushpower single barrel is a great tool or if you fancy a multi shot then a Mossberg Hushpower pump action is also a very good tool. 16. And to think i missed a rabbit at 35 the other nigh with my .22 . Well done lads, thats some serious distance you're shooting at.
  17. Get a lithium Battery mate. Got one on friday and they are the shit. Bought the 14AH 12V with a Lance and red filter, no messing they are the best thing you can buy at the moment.
  18. The gamekeeper i know has got one of thee calls but have looked everywhere on the internet and have not found any for sale. Decoying.co.uk used to sell them but not any more, they are highly rated and i would love to be able to get hold of one, but i cannot fine a place on the internet that sells them, any ideas lads ?
  19. The first thing I would say is; how do you know that the ammo is at fault? Have you chronograph'ed the ammunition to see if there are fluctuations in velocity? Winchester subs are good, I used to get one or two fliers out of a box, now I use Eley subs but even with them I get the odd flier. There are many things that can cause bad grouping, you need to look at all possible causes before concluding on anyone. Are you using a moderator? If so, what sort of groups do you get with the moderator off? Have you inspected the crown? If so, what condition is it in? If your using a moderator the chanc
  20. Hi mate just to add a bit of expericance here. Lung/chest shooting rabbits is fine but, like deer they may run a bit and roll over dead. This has happend quite a few time while lamping with a friend. We have lost a few rabbit as they have gone under the cover but normally a chest shot is taken when we cant get closer to the rabbiot or the head is a too smaller target at the range. Try and get as close as possible to the rabbit before you shoot it, if it starts to run, stop, turn the lamp off and wait a few seconds, the light up the rabbit and place the lamp in front of it and start wa
  21. Cheers for the replys guys, you have been exellent once again for help. I think that my bu;;ets must be a funny batch as i have shot a group of 1.6cm today at 40yards with my .22 using a older box of winchester subs same bullet but different batch number. I will be trying some different brands of ammo out soon, but the probelm is my RFD does not stock the most liked round in subsonic on this forum which is the ELEY, but i will ring around. Just a quick one again to pick you're brains, whats the best high velocity round you have had, just for some close range fox's when they stay just
