    pheasant rearing

thats rearing costs Alot of gas needed this summer or lack of summer and alot of lads lost birds due to sheds beeing blowen over with the big wind early in the summer We are rearing 140,000 this year thats a lot of bitting ,,firsts 7000 poults went out last week . Im sure most lads especialy the guns sitting at a peg dureing the season just how much work goes into rearing birds

  9. A terrier that doesnt stay till it is dug with out being called out is a quitter ...a jacker ..a spewer ...it has walked of the job end off story ....there is no doubt some of they types have there uses ...There will be many lads that dont realise what differant types of terrier with all sorts of situations and uses is needed on a hunt Del glad to see you have put your toys back in the pram when some lads dont agree with things you have written ..this would be a boring forum if we all thought the same if you keep dogs to dig to i agree whole heartedly but if you keep terriers to bo

  12. how old is that gunthough, they stopped making them a long time ago, you could get a brand new escort with a 3 year garantee for not much more than that, or a bit more and get a baikal mp153 (rugged reliable guns)...remington 11-87, es100, benelli m2, vinci, al391, sx3...get something that will last, something that fits, the options are endless the problem with the beretta a303 as mentioned in previous post is it would be abit dodgy putting alot of steel loads through it you would be mad to put high performance steel through it and you should only use light loads of slow steel through qua

  15. I done a fair bit of beating in that area in the early nineties while at Newton and St boswells college....Easy enough ground and nice part of the country
  16. I have to agree I have never seen the point or seen the advantages in leaving a gundog till it is a year old before starting to seriuosly training it but that seems to be the way of most gundog lads
  17. You should be, you have swallowed enough of it at public school!!
  18. There is no doubting every one likes a worker that is pleasing to the eye or is at least anatomically correct but the vast majority of the lads that go to the shows you go to see looks as far more important than working ability . If most of them had the choice of a stud dog that was an average worker but was a looker and had won a few shows or a real ugly little tyke but was a real grafter in everyway I know which stud most of them would choose ....I know which one I would use though and thats the main thing Good luck with your hunting trips abroad
  19. IMO rather than buy a new cheap semi like an escort or benelli buy a second hand berretta ...there is no better semi for reliabilty and quality
