  1. i knew you'd make a joke about this subject tony.
  2. it depends. if you are swamped with them by all means go for them. if there are only a few about then leave them alone.
  3. hi, today i was doing some decoying after school and i settup up a hide and lofted some pigeons in a tree covered in ivy. before long, a pigeon landed very close to me about 5 metres away. i gave it some holdunder and took the shot off. it went down and even though the pellet had gone straight through its neck its was still blinking and its head wasnt loose, it was tucked into its crop and upright. i wrung its neck and it immeadietly went slack. the pellet went striaght through its cheek. is this what over penetration is, when a pellet travels straight through and dose not do a lot of damage?
  4. any pics? is she trained and is she a good worker?
  5. hi, it works with pigeons, so why not rabbits? surely a rabbit would pop its head out of its burrow and see its mate there and think it is safe to come out? of course, unlike with pigeons, you would need to get your smell off it first. do you think it would work? Aaron.
  6. feel for ya... not to rub anything in, but i got out this morning at exactly the same time as you before i had to hop on the bus, beauitiful day, and popped off a woody feeding on some ivy in my garden
  7. good shooting! is there another comp on?
  8. Yeh as you can see I've got a silencer fitted, a really good oe at that, and in terms of springer volume my guns one of the quietest I've heard. A well made springer given a real nice service will be even quieter. I was at a gun shop yesterday getting my mates air tank filled, and I asked if they had a chrono and they did. He went and fired 5 shots off there and there just happened to be a guy there who really new his shit. He said just from the sound of it she was in good condition. Scary thing is though with RWS superdomes I averaged OVER 12/ftlb and that is after 2.5 years of good use!. So
  9. lol good story, your right, quality not quanitity. the good thing abotu a pcp with a silencer, 50% you can take a second shot. i once missed a woody feeding on ivy as its head just ducked down. it didnt notice the pellet sailing a 1cm above its head. i got in on a second shot. good shooting and a great example of how hunters can get results by thinking about where to set up for static shooting.
  10. yeah you'll be able to handle the HW rifles with ease. i think people over react about how heavy they are. get searching airgunbbs forum, pigeonwatch forum, THIS ONE!, guntrader and you'll soon find a nice s/h hw. although i think you may need to push your budget up to £200. this is a good deal for a good gun: http://www.guntrader.co.uk/GunsForSale/Detail.php?NewGunID=100224143903822&Num=180GunsTotal+545&Filter
  11. how old are you mate? im 14 and most of the HW range are very good. although you may find some of their rifles a bit heavy. hw90's are good rifles. you should be able to pick up a second hand one for a bit past your budget. edit: i have had a bsa lightning xl and for all there glory they are not actually as good as hw's. the may look more 'gunny' than some of the hw underlevers but hw's are much better.
  12. from my limited knowledge of pistols webley ones which break forward are quite good and reliable. also the HW spring pistols are good too. try to avoid co2 pistols as there power fluctuates in accordance to the tempreture. this looks really nice:
  13. great shooting! bait? do you use them for pike?
  14. hi, i'd be greatful if someone cold put up some pics of these.
  15. keep saving! In my opinion (and you dont have to litsen to me at all) lightnings are not as good as guns similarly priced. if i could go back in time i would tell myself to not go for a lightning and go for one of the hw range instead.
  16. its the same when i got my s400, there so accurate.
  17. sounds like a good mod. isnt that a little dangerous? i mean i dont shoot when there are other people in the garden, even if there way off to one side.
  18. bit off topic but moocher, whats the gun in your profile pic?
  19. I remember one of the RM sniper lads letting me have a go when I was serving....the kick nearly shoved me back a foot or two....still managed to hit the target though, each round costs about £2.50 each apparently! This guy had a VERY lucky escape..... Darryl is there something nnobodys telling me ? were you in a sniper regiment or something Si?
  20. i've invented a pellet proof vest if anyones intrested. and no i've nver shot myself. my idiot brother once picked up a loaded gun and pointed at me and said "bang your dead" sniggering. he is never going to plink with my gun again. ever. the pellet prooff vest is made with 4 sheets of carboard and sandwidged between them some old dressing gown material and tied up with loads of string. makes a good backstop because about 30% of the pellets can be reused.
  21. i was wondering why there were not many writeups on the forum lol, nice to see you back.
