  1. Because women think they look cute? Definately something to do with shows I would think.
  2. I've done it a few times now without a problem so far,
  3. Do yourself a favour and learn how to make your own mate, it's not difficult and there are plenty of tutorials on the web. Once you've learned you can knock a few up whenever you want them and a lot cheaper too.
  4. I occasionally give mine a day without food as I'm sure they wouldn't feed every day in the wild, so yours should be sound if you feed them well before you go.
  5. I had enough of you taking the piss yesterday without taking you ferreting or shooting
  6. As a 63 year old heavy smoker I'd take the time. Anyone who says they'd have the money isn't yet at the stage where they can see the end coming up, I reckon I've probably got 10 years max where I can walk the dogs and do a bit of ferreting etc, I'm going to make the most of it.
  7. That could be put in an episode of Mrs Browns boys without changing a thing..
  8. Everyone over here talks about how Americans never leave their own country, but as someone who spent the best 3 weeks of my life riding a motorbike round Wyoming and Montana I can see why. You could holiday just in the tiny bit I saw for a lifetime and never get bored, for anyone with an interest in outdoor pursuits it's heaven on earth.
  9. If the jills neck is just red he means no real harm, I tried to put 2 adult hobs together last year and within a day or so one was nearly dead. He's starting to mature and ferrets are rough by nature, they'll settle down in time. My advice would be get another jill, especially because in the spring he will be even worse when breeding season starts, and put a couple more sleeping boxes in, that way the jill can be on her own if he's getting too much. Don't separate them if you can help it because they are way easier to introduce when young than when adults, and dont get another hob because at
  10. The photo of LDR with the loser tee shirt is still my all time funniest moment on THL, makes me smile even now.
  11. Depends on how much you need but you can get UPVC cladding sheets that are 15ft x 1ft, It slots together like floorboard and is easily fixed to anything with no nails. I think it's about 8 quid a sheet and you'd want 6 to do an 8x6 shed 3feet high, but it's rot proof, easy to clean and even ferrets can't get up it.
  12. I've got one here, not shy as you describe but on the very few occasions I've taken her out she drives me mad by shooting off back down the holes as soon as you try to pick her up. Absolutely useless for rabbiting I guess I'm a mug for keeping her for the last 5 years or so but she will sit in my grandaughters arms for ages without a bother so shes been useful in other ways I suppose.
  13. Just had a rough count and theres about 35-40
  14. You're welcome mate, message me and we'll sort something out.
  15. It might be worth just asking for ferreting, horse owners and golfers tend not to like the idea of guns on the land, even if it's just air rifles. I find people tend to look at ferreters as harmless idiots, well they do me anyway.
  16. Anyone local to me who needs a few nets get in touch. This time last year I was cadging off mates because I had so few but since I taught myself how to make them at christmas I seem to have become addicted and I'm going to be ferreting this year with home made ones I don't want anything for them as I was gifted them by good mates off here, not sure how many there are but at least 20 probably quite a few more. Cheers, Tom
  17. I remember once complimenting a guy on his 20 inch tts beddy whippet, only to be told it was a deerhound cross, and he was certain of that because the guy who sold it to him said that deerhound crosses always have a white tip on their tail like his did....
  18. I must admit I'm skeptical but good luck with mate, and if it's wearing a locator it wont be able to get away.
  19. Not trying to be funny or start a row but how do you know it's a genuine polecat mate? Do they come with pedigrees and dna checks or something?
  20. He'll need a lot less raw than tinned, as a guide I feed my 70lb dog about three quarters of a pound and my 50 lb dog just over half a pound, with plain mixer to fill them up and left over vegetables from our meals. Other than that all they get is a biscuit each morning from the missus and whatever the ratbags can pinch while I'm not looking. I's surprising how little it takes to keep even a big dog healthy so be careful not to give too much. Also try to get as much variety as you can, I get mine from a local butcher and he does lamb, chicken, beef and tripe, so the dogs get everything they n
  21. Don't know where you are but I could ask around and probably sort you out if you're near the west mids mate
  22. Based in the West Mids and looking for a midweek hunting partner for the coming season, pigeon shooting and ferreting. Ideally someone local and semi retired like me with a bit of permission of their own that could offer a change for me and the dog, especially lamping as I have none at present. A dog will be welcome as long as it is stock broken and steady with other dogs, as my main ferreting permission is a riding school. Its no problem if you don't have pigeon shooting gear as I have everything we'd need and permission on a large farm that should provide some good sport. I've posted thi
  23. A mate of mine had 2 castrated hobs together all their lives with no problem, but I doubt it would be the same with whole ones.
