    So people tell me, cant really see it myself. Keepered land has less game, apart from chickens and partridge around here, as its hunted more, and the pest control is normally up to date ect. I understand the conservation aspect, keeping areas of rough and woods does aid quarry, but an old rough farm without a shoot tends to hold more imho. We will not agree on this, as im surrounded on 3 sides by shoots, and one side that isn't, and I know which bit i prefer to hunt on. I wont be waving a placard or opening up there rearing pens, and really have nothing against what they choose to do, i

    Theres a few things I'm not happy with in hunting, but thats my choice not to partake. The one, and possibly the biggest of all, that I just can not get my head around, is raising thousands of phesants, to release, and shoot It just seems so bloody stupid to be shooting what are little more than tame chickens.

    As mentioned, he wasn't doubled up, the other dog was on a slip. He is just more competitive with other muts about, so thats why I re-entered him then. The reason I re-entered him, was simply because I like to keep all options open. To me, the dog is not a "tool" but a hunting partner. Only reason I'm mentioning all this, is because I don't want new comers thinking they have to knock there dog on the head if it does pull up. I understand those more competitive amongst us have to "have" the best thing in their kennels, and are prepared to go through a lot of dogs looking for it.

    No, he wont be gone if he does it again. but, as I said, it doesn't really bother me, he has never done it on quarry I'm more interested in catching I'm not really one to oshift on, or pts a dog I've owned since a pup due to a couple of bad days. Even at 5, he has more that earned his place by the fire.

    Mine is 5, and pulled up on me for the first time, the season just gone. We had done 4 in a month, and then he just pretended he couldnt see one that was clearly in the lamp I just laid off them for a while, then ran another with another dog present (though on a slip) and no problems since. to me, he just had a bad day, but then, don't we all ? We don't do them half as much as some, so its no real bother too me, never pulled up on anything else in his life.

    I'm all for prisons paying there own way. We pay people good money to fish condoms and unwanted alligators out of sewage plants, so why not build prisons on sewage plants, and have them do the fun work. Could work for other things too, recycle centres ect.

    Several bull crosses, mainly staff/whippet types, I know every one will say "well you've never seen a good one" and that is certainly true for me

    p.s, forgot to say that I also do this myself, dont eat for a day.

    I fast mine once every 2 weeks to a month, for 48 hours, I.E i miss a days food for them. Normally after they have eaten a large bone meal, like deer carcass or lamb necks. It gives them a chance to digest any bone and grissel that might be building up.
