    FIT

Starting to get fit again, after a few early injurys
  2. The water pistol is a very good tip, I used one myself, to stop the pup jumping up at people, as a lot of people get freaked out by it. Worked in under a week, maybe 6 to 10 squirts. Then you just need to show him it, and he gets the message quick
  3. Unsure about lamping a hawk, but wouldnt the light nights be a problem for a hawk, as he could easyerly fly on after game out of your sight, being able to still see them in the moonlight? Who knows, maybe thats a plus with a hawk.
  4. the only lamping permission i have, I got through ferreting there first, people seem a lot more ready to give you ferreting permission, then after taking the dog to these places a few times, and showing you don't cause any dramas, you can say "seems the rabbits are getting wise to the ferreting, we could take quite a few more off here at night with the dog"
  5. Because if they are lost, they will breed survive easy in their climate ,and endanger the local native species.
  6. nice pup mate You just need a saluki type for a full deck now
  7. Good on ya mark, you put the time in, and you get repayed Hope the dog goes on to do all you ask, as I'm sure it knows its now in a good home.
  8. Nope, prob one of the widest. But you can alter it by spinning the casing.
  9. yeah, just put what they do do into the tray, and squeeze some lemon onto the places there going, that you dont want them too. I just use shavings in their loo, young ones oftern take a while to get the hang of using just one toilet, but before you know it, they will be.
  10. Are both parents Wheaten/Grey/Bull ? Just as where you say pups are Wheaten/Grey x Bull/grey, both parents look wheaton crosses, rather than one being a bull cross ?
  11. I took all the fuses and conections of my lightforce, and just joined it with a good bit of cable, straight to the battery with bolts, never had a problem since.
  12. Nice one, looks about the size of a whippet
  13. I think its a waste of time legally, but its succeded in making the forums a lot duller.
  14. I used bells before I got a locator, helpfull in dense cover, where the ferret mght come up out of sight. The cat type ones can clog up in dirt though, and go silent, but found some cow bell type ones (small) that didnt clogg up.
  15. You need 2 ferrets, as there pretty sociable animals, and might be cooped up a lot in summer. Then you need nets, I preffer hemp ones myself, but theres plenty of choice, a box or bag for carrying them about, and if you can stretch to it, a locator is well worth having. A spade for digging is a must, and a probe is useful too. As is a flask for coffe N=Might as well get the newest out, the mk3, as if you havent used the old mk1, you wont know any diff, and will get used to what you have, which is a good bit of kit imho.
  16. Cant be 100% fair really, just down to your luck on the day. Each run is always going to differ, be it differing ground, different rabbit, distance ext. Slips taken in turns, and you get what you get. The only way really. Just luck, and good tools :-) I think 50s will be going to max to hold.
  17. I can see it happening, theres no real rush, but time is nearing Blando, its 50 squid each, winner takes all, you'll run locally, or in regional heat, so if you dont have land to go at, hopefull those your drawn against do, but then they will have the advantage of known land its not judged on the retrive, just the finnal bag, i think it was said to be a 2 hour outing, most in the bag wins, though I personally see less hassles with the time honured best of 5, then sudden death if all 5 are bagged. Its not the winning, but the taking part lol, though I'll enjoy spending yours and to
  18. We could do that anytime I have the quarry over here
  19. Soon hopefully the weather is certainly here.
  20. What sort do you like ? As thats the best. Any lurcher can work alongside ferrets imho
  21. Sorry to hear that, at least he died doing what he loved.......Chasing game down.
  22. I prob wouldnt own a bull X but i dont do a lot of fox, but when you look at the guys that do do a lot of fox, they all seem to be running some top class bull Xes. Sure, it is a fashion at the moment, but its also been around a fair while, and will remain around, even when it goes out of fashion. Bit like skate boards, and boob tubes really
  23. Got to be worth a try, just avoid this kind As for 20 quid, its no much use for nowt but a wall hanging.
  24. I, like many others, just use a collar, and a bit of rope. So I dont think there is a perfect way to do it, both have there pros and cons. The lean down and release ones are even worse, try doing that with the lamp on the game and the dog rarering to go. never tryed this style though http://www.northwindcatalog.com/slip_leads.htm So i dunno about them
