  1. Stone me,your taking this shit far too seriously....in all fairness i think i could probably stick another 2 x 0,s on the end and still we wont have won win it ( 2100 )hence i said it somewhat tongue in cheek without thoroughly thinking it through...just the numbers 1980 and 1940 popped into my little head and i was off and running.....however having now done a stewards on it yes you are correct by a technicality As for 1966,well folk tend not to appreciate us reminding everyone of that, similar to how they dont appreciate us reminding them that players raised by West Ham win the premiers
  2. [quote name='deanflute' timestamp='1281903693' post='1674419' In that case then West Ham (in your eyes) should have won the Premier last season, The one ending with a zero! ...you are talking about what year a season ends in.....im talking about what a number ends in !....this being the 2010/11 season,2010 ends with a 0 !!....same as the 1980 season ended in a 0 ( number 1980 ) and the 1940 season ended with a 0 ( number 1940 ) Last season was the 2009/10 season.....2009 doesnt end with a 0................................................ Forget it ive lost the will
  3. Yes but 2010 ends with a 0 !!....this is the 2010/11 season but..... 2010 still ends with a 0.....the same as 1980 ends with a 0
  4. Deluded i can accept.....blindly loyal,possibly....unrealistically hopeful,maybe.........but retarded ? ....just as well its only the internet i suppose.
  5. Well lets make it interesting, stick another 0 on the end and i bet you 1000 they dont ?...either of us dont pay up and we get humiliated on here as a phoney ??....if not then 100 is fine, your choice. Lets see how confident you really are
  6. Considering the way we played....thats a pretty good start ...looks like another painful season ahead.
  7. I have absolutely no doubts in my mind that West Ham are going to win the Premier League this year.We always win something in a season ending in 0.....league cup in 1940...fa cup in 1980...second division championship in 1980......so 2010 has to be our year starting with a sound thrashing at villa today !!...never mind about man utd, chelsea liverpool......my prediction is.... 1. West Ham United 2. Manchester Utd 3. Liverpool 4. Chelsea 5. Arsenal 6. Tottenham
  8. ...thats the one.....shame im not a bit more computer savvy or i wouldnt have had to ask a friend to ask a friend to ask a friend !
  9. Not into all the kung fu stuff myself but Bruce Lee as a character and a philosopher fascinates me.Im currently reading a real interesting book called The Warrior Within..." The philosophies of Bruce Lee to better understand the world around you and achieve a rewarding life " Im finding it a very interesting read,im not sure how easy it is to get hold of as it took me a lot of asking around to get it,so once im done your welcome to it though i must admit it takes me a fair while to get through books and im only half way through Very interesting read though.
  10. Blimey thats an old one i learned that in Wandsworth nick 20 years ago !!!! All you gotta do is set the deck up like that in the first place......as an example.....put every suit in order ace to king.......cut them 5 times,50 times or as many times as you like they will still be in that order. To do the trick on the clip he has just set them up in the order the story comes out.....easy if you know how
  11. What a load of ol bollocks !....hard man...whats a hard man then ?.....to me a hardman is some of these single dads you see raising kids while holding a job down after their mrs has just died !.... Use your brains, any man who is active making a living off crime is not going to be well known is he ....least of all plastering his face anywhere the general public can see it ! I find these days of gangster groupies and book writers quite hilarious.
  12. To prove your the best you have to beat the other best fighters at their best....not wait until their finished and then beat them !....Calzaghe could have gone down as an all time great fighter of his time but never showed enough ambition to beat the worlds top fighters in their prime, instead preferring to protect an unbeaten record.
  13. " if you wont do it for me do it for the father " ....remember those famous Duff words !....Mugabi had been baptised a few weeks before the Hagler fight and wanted the father in his corner. The Lonsdale shops a furniture shop now,i suppose Denni Mancini was one of the last to have it....Beak St is all different now mate,in fact Soho in general.
  14. I bet he made you pay the bill ....Mickey was jewish to his roots and it showed in daily life !....That said he was a very clever man and was good for the game.Their was certain things he did that were plain wrong but nobodies perfect especially in the boxing game for instance at the time of the Hagler/Mugabi fight Mickey was making great matches in the states and the type of guy Mugabi was Mickey knew he had to take the fight quick against George Francis advice.Mugabi was a lazy man who hated running,George often said he was THE worst trainer he had ever trained and was riddled with syphili
  15. Im afraid thats what happens when a group of people walk all over you and take the piss out of you,you lose respect for them
  16. I can well believe it....my father would tell me many stories about him as he fought a few times on Randy Turpin undercards at the White City.Being from East London i was constantly getting told stories of fighters from these parts though Randy Turpin was one of the few ( foreigners ) as he called them, the old fella would talk about
  17. I did meet Joe Bugner once not long after he moved to Oz and he wasnt my cuppa tea,but then i dont think he was anyones !...speaking of which,if im not wrong George Biddles took Jack Bodell to a British title win against Bugner ? and possibly managed Richard Dunn when he fought Ali,though i could be wrong.
  18. No,what was that and when was it ?....Jack was a little before my time although i was told many stories about him.As a small child my father introduced me to him after the Cooper/Clay fight which he promoted though i dont remember it at all i was too young and not jewish enough for him to pay me much attention His highlight was promoting the Sugar Ray Robinson/Randy Turpin fight which my old dad won a small fortune betting on Turpin at something like 33-1 !
  19. Yes i can understand that....although i will say Frank Warren has been great for British fighters. Just out of interest i used to collect a lot of old fight films myself,as you probably know Jim Jacobs who was part of tysons old team had the biggest collection in the world at one stage,it got past down when he died and his son or gr son i forget which, sold them all off....a fiend of a friend managed to get some historic old fights that are worth a fair bit now.....so a collections always worth holding onto
  20. I still have a passion for the sport and i dont think its changed that much over the years.....what has changed is the characters, back then it was a massive thing for a young fighter who they signed with be it Duff,Lawless,Solomons,Jarvis Astaire,Mike Barret etc it was all who dangled the biggest carrot in front of you,now for youngsters if you dont sign with Frank Warren you failed ! There was so many trainers, managers and promoters,so many gyms.....nowadays we have gone the american way of pushing all good fighters onto a handful of trainers/managers etc......the game has lost its sense of a
  21. Absolutely right and good man for making the point As a few folk on here will know from our sporting bets im very big on a certain local childrens charity close to me.....as much sympathy as i have for the problems around the world there are people in just as much need on our doorsteps, once they are sorted out we can look further afield if we are in a position to help. Its that prick Bob Geldoff who started this shit, before that English people were glad to help other English people, now they all want to be trendy and save a poor starving african like it gives you rights to ownership
  22. John Mugabi was one of the biggest wastes of talent ive ever seen,he would have beaten Hagler in that fight if he had more belief in himself but he was a strange fella i remember seeing him at the Royal Oak gym back around 84 Mickey Duff had brought him over and he was sparring with another Duff fighter some might remember named Cornelius Boza Edwards, they were light sparring even though Boza was only a lightweight and Mugabi was light middle at the time.....Mugabi couldnt lay a glove on him and he lost his rag and got out the ring during a round.I was knobbing about on the pads elsewhere and
  23. The best time the apbt breed had in this country was the following 10 years after the 91 dda when they were banned and folk were being hit with big fines just for owning them it meant only the real dedicated followers of the breed would keep or breed them, the more strict the law was the higher quality the dogs became. Then when the laws relaxed and a certain kennel of " good dogmen " started selling them out to the pakies they became a fashion item and gradually the quality got lower to the point where the breed as a whole is at its lowest ever since arriving on these shores.I love the breed
  24. Best of luck and all that.....i have a pal ive known back since school days who has been in the game over 30 years and still going strong today,he often comments how folk starting up now dont need anywhere near the talent he had when he started out.....he says its like comparing doing a dot to dot picture through tracing paper to natural artistic talent that can create a beautiful picture from nothing. As little as i know im inclined to agree.......then again he might just be a bitter twisted old cxxt !
