  1. Exactly what i was thinking Infact, the poor f****n animal is going to have a tougher job surviving its own body than it is a few splits on its boat !
  2. I agree with Simoman,if you intend continuing to be around dogs you just got to get straight back in the saddle,so to speak......a bad attack will effect different people in different ways.....i was involved in a very nasty attack a long time ago,my mindset was to accept it was a freak occurence from 1 bad dog.....the next few weeks being around dogs was nervy but the confidence soon builds up again and it does infact leave you with better skills at reading situations... Physically wounds heal hopefully with no lasting damage, mentally it can take longer if you allow it to get the better of yo

I was told earlier today that George Graham,Jim Mclean,Tommy Docherty and Craig Brown were all born within that same 25 mile radius.......im not suggesting these were on that same level of greatness......just strikes me as an amazing little statistic thats all ......Thats now 9 or 10 who managed at the very highest level 4 or 5 of which would go on any world list of all time greats.............all born within 25 miles of each other !.....Unbelievable really.
  4. I know a lot of genuine fight fans....but i dont know any who all they want to see is " blood and guts "......if you want to watch blood and guts watch a horror film or go stand outside a nightclub on a friday night..... Genuine fight fans want to see technical ability, guts, athleticsm and every quality that makes a fighter a good one.....blood and guts doesnt even come into it. Your not seriously comparing the stitches a ufc fighter might get to the serious life changing injuries suffered in boxing rings year in year out. " to the average joe public boxing is going downhill " they was sa
  5. What a let down......i thought it was building up to a pic of a nice big plate of grub......sod the scenery wheres the dinner .....nice pics
  6. Must admit id be a touch dubious about meeting a bird whos interests and hobbies included laying snares, butchering pigs or skinning rabbits ......Theres some mental pictures you can have of ladies ....skinning and gutting bunnies is just not one of them !
  7. Its worth remembering the people who run the sport of " mma "....sold it out long ago, dont forget this was originally sold to the public as " a real fight "....no holds barred ? cage fighting ? no rules fighting ?....they quickly decided against that idea and started to call it mixed martial arts when tv companies refused to air it and certain states banned it......today it has more rules than any other combat sport and is certainly not a real fight.Thats a massive turnaround of the entire sport in around 15 years.....In well over 100 years the rules of boxing have never changed. As for boxe

No matter if its 25 or 35 miles the fact is boys thats a remarkable statistic that 4 of the greatest managers in the history of the game came from the same area.....must be something in the water up there.
  10. Without getting too in depth....its much easier to generate power when punching upwards than it is punching downwards !! Punching downwards is just an arm punch.....punching upwards you generate much more power through your legs and hips, look at Mike Tyson as an example......very few extremely tall fighters are hard or explosive punchers, and Fury will more than likely never be either, for that reason.......that doesnt mean he cant have a good career it just means he must play to his strengths.....I used to spar regularly with a fella named Funso Banjo who was a decent domestic level fighter

oh ok so i wasnt a million miles out....seem to remember him slumped in the dug out im sure i watched it on telly......
  12. Im no fan of the EDL i think they are a waste of useful energy that could be going to a far better cause but in a similar direction.......but in all fairness,i think the lad interviewed by Paxman on that clip carried himself very well....personally i think all the demonstrations and football hoolie type bollocks does far more harm than good.....but this fella put his points across very well and it would be hard for any normal person to argue with what he said.....i,ll be looking into more of what this fella has to say.

How you doing sir....some good info there. That 30 miles thing,a friend of mine told me that a few weeks back....i told him " piss off what do you know about it " Must be fact if im hearing the same thing again.....incredible feat that will never ever be repeated....i love statistics like that. Didnt Jock Stein have a heart attack and die during a game ? or am i getting him mixed up with Tommy Cooper .....Also,i wonder how close George Graham would come to that little group.... Just one other thing that same mate of mine told me.Stein,Shankly,Busby,Ferguson.....were all born with

    .....some folk are so impressionable.
  15. What it really shows is the desperation of the ufc as an organisation and mma as a sport An out of shape over the hill Randy Couture would never be allowed by any boxing organisation to step into a ring with Vladimir Klitchsko for example.......it just would never be allowed to happen. What reason could there be to think Mercer or Toney could compete in a different sport at the top level......likewise what reason is there to think any of them mma boys could step into a boxing ring at top level......the difference is boxing is still a noble and dignified sport with morals...........ufc is onl
  16. You boxed, and your friend beat an English prospect.... Well why didnt you say.....none of us could possibly understand the game as much as somebody of your calibre ......hats off to you im sure we could all learn from your obvious knowledge and experience. ta ta champ.
  17. In all fairness,it sums up the difference in the quality of the 2 sports.....the fact out of shape ex boxers like Mercer/Toney can walk into mma fights at top level........that would never be allowed the other way round, and rightly so.
  18. Must admit i dont know all of the names listed there......but im surprised to see Freeman/Mir on that list.....i was at that show if i remember right it was the first ufc in London....didnt Freeman win in the first round....Mir was in piss poor shape i remember....It was the show where the black English lad i forget his name now got the 10 second knockout win....Matt Hughes/thingybob Newton was a much better fight on the same night. Certainly agree with the first one though Griffin and Bonner.
  19. You have said some silly things, but thats probably the silliest. In this country we have a proud tradition in amateur boxing....my father was lucky enough to win an aba title,3 years later he won a British Title and was one of the best prospects in Britain of the time. He always maintained the biggest achievement of his career was winning the aba title

Im not a big believer in that saying its been proved wrong too many times....styles make fights not size....Tyson had a great style for that era of plodders....big guys of todays like the Klitchskos with their movement and athleticsm would have troubled Tyson. Haye just thought the wrong kind of fight....I believe he has the power to knock out any heavyweight....but if he,s not willing to take a risk to get in the position to do so he must fight competetively every round to win every round..... he did neither of those things.

Bill Nicholson was a Yorkshireman I find it hard to believe Dalgliesh,Souness and the like could be compared to Ferguson,Busby or Shankly......could they ?

Just out of interest.....what order would you Scots put the top 5 or so managers in order of greatness, out of i suppose..... 1.Stein 2.Ferguson 3.Shankly 4.Busby 5.Smith Cant think who else would fit into a top 5 but by all means add your own

Witherspoon was bigger but they were better fighters than Frank, simple as that.....In that era 6 foot 4 was regarded as huge, today its average.....the thing is today as well these big 6 foot 7 plus guys are good athletes as well whereas many of the ,s big guys were like tellytubbies !

Frank was a good boxer, was very dedicated and hit very hard..........he just wasnt a fighter in his heart. Only at the highest level was that ever exposed......but it was there.
  25. I dont really know about all that.....i first heard about him around 95/96 at a guess he was getting a bit of a reputation round south east london i think he was off the estates in plumstead or thamesmead that area anyway.......there was always plenty of private do,s back then probably still is now i dont know..........it was only when i saw him on a few ufc shows years later that i remembered the name.....then that robbery was talk of the town obviously.
