Keeping Africans in check.....in Africa you mean ....listen im not getting into a debate about politics, apartheid and all that shit as i dont know enough about it..........but as a vaguely fair person id look at Africa as a predominantly black continent....whites controlling blacks in their own land never seemed right to me,battering f**k out of them in the street and restricting them to certain parts of their own gaff seems like racism ( if that is really a word ).............to me that cant be the same word as telling a black man that he is black.....thats my only point.

Some cultures stick all sorts of shit in their face, rings up their neck, purposely scar their faces and i dare say plenty of other weird stuff we would find repulsive...................as long as they dont do it in this country then who are we to say their wrong.....they might think putting a pig in a pen of its own filth then eating it is weird to us its perfectly normal......oh but its a poor little doggie i forgot.....i agree its not nice but calling the people sick scum just because its not the same sick scum we do...................

Absolutely......unless someones getting bashed up robbed or abused....mind your f****n business......this was a discrepancy over a train ticket where a kid used the f word....................maybe next time captain caveman there will think twice before roughing up little teenagers.

Gnash London and the Home Counties have 10-12 Million Folk to Produce there Fighting Stock. And a Percentage of the Names Folk know wont of been Born-raised in the Capital but moved there to join a stable. Hartlepool Oh Little Hartlepool by this little Northern Town can Produce a Boxer-Fighting man. Up there with the Best people per square Mile . He didnt ask people per square mile he asked where the best boxers in Britain come from .........for example the 2 best heavyweights in Britain at this moment are both from London..........i have every respect for the boxers Hartlepool

We all know what its like to have a manager you want to kick in the bollocks but that game last night was a bit strong its almost as if the Blackburn fans wanted their side to lose so they could give it to the manager.........i hope he gets the chance to pull them out of it just so he can stick 2 fingers up to his own supporters !

....superb !..........all that lad needed was a wonky eye and a funny face and he could of had the part in Deliverance

My bet is he gets arrested and charged !.................I think its absolutely sickly this whole racism thing.....i listened to this interview with Gus Poyet on talksport some time ago i thought he was absolutely 100% spot on.....have a listen to the whole interview...particularly at around 5.30 in the interview ( do you want the whole world to drive on the right hand side of the road ).....he is totally right.....as a nation we are obssessed with racism, the rest of the world is not..... nobody else cares if a black man gets called a black man but we regard it as almost a hanging offence.....

At least taking a few punches didnt make me lose my manners and need to start name calling when i cant get my own way or back up anything i say " youd be surprised what i can back up "...........well what ? this is the internet son you have to type something and then people read it thats how it works....so whats the surprise dont be shy ? When the valleys have the worldwide reputation the Royal Oak has as a pro or Repton as an amateur then it will be worth comparing, until that day its not.

You cant be serious............any era ????? Sugar Ray Robinson,Harry Grebb,Carlos Monzon,Stanley Ketchell,Jake La Motta,Marvin Hagler,Ray Leonard........................... Ok Calzaghe wasnt a middleweight but you didnt know that....sometimes you just gotta keep it real and not get swept along with romantic sayings.
-
You make some very valid points......id like to make it clear i didnt follow Calzaghes career very closely at the time and the Hopkins/Calzaghe reasoning was only what i was told since by somebody i have no reason to doubt.....the same person was also well known for calling Calzaghe a fitness fanatic who can box a little bit, which i thinks a little unfair but having been around long enough its often hard to look past what makes sense......as the saying says " never be a fool to your own intelligence "......but then it doesnt necessarily make it fact as im merely taking another mans word for so

Historically its London by far..........right this minute, probably still London.....closely followed by Manchester,Sheffield....Norwich has a fair few......easiest thing to do is check the World top 10 ratings and see where the British fighters come from theres probably no more than about 10 or 12 so shouldnt be too difficult.
-
Cracking post there sir.....just a couple ofpoints....as regards the happenings between Hopkins/calzaghe i have to be honest i never paid much attention at the time for whatever reason i cant remember im going purely on what ive been told since....and what i was told came pretty much from the horses mouth so to speak so without sounding impolite.....i,ll go with that ....as it happens i totally agree about Hopkins he is a remarkable athlete, but in any form of sport you dont expect a man to improve or even stay the same the older he gets and no way did Calzaghe expect him to be the same fighte

That office with all the wooden cupboards like something off Open All Hours was where you would get called in and given a name, venue and date to train towards.......you didnt dare question it.......compare that to todays times where fighters tell there managers who there fighting, where and when.....Duff would of eaten the likes of Calzaghe or David Haye alive......." you dont f****n dictate to me ive been in this game 475 years "....i can still hear him now ....good little fighter in his day gte i dont know if you knew.
-
I can see by that reply you clearly didnt know Calzaghe was started off by lawless and Duff .....and how is it contradicting to say because Terry didnt feel he was ready but Joe did that means he didnt duck anyone ....he wanted titles,money.....but as he did with all youngsters Terry would try to hold them back......by the time Calzaghe started ducking fighters Terry was long retired .... i can also see by your reply you dont really know much about London boxers....either that or you just cant think of any that might back up your claim of being crap......" talk is cheap " you say...well what
-
They all had a hand in each others pocket.....officially Lawless was manager/trainer.....Duff was manager/promoter.....Levene was matchmaker.......but they was all earning off all the fighters....Honeyghan for instance was a Duff fighter but would train in the oak the peacock and the thomas a beckett with George Francis.....they were a complicated little outfit but had the game sewn up back then.
-
He was a very odd character Mugabi he once started a full scale gym riot after taking liberties with Boza Edwards.....he also stunk like a raccoon and was none to fond of taking a shower ....wasted talent just didnt have the mentality for it really.
-
He did yes but he wasnt a Terry Lawless fighter John was managed by George Francis.....George also had the likes of Mugabi,Boza Edwards......later on of course George,Frank Black Earnie Fossey Jimmy Tibbs Dean Powell etc etc were all affiliated with the Royal Oak in one way or another.
-
Before making big sweeping statements its always best to make sure they are actually true ...you say Calzaghe " never in his career had the luxury of Duff or Lawless working in tandem ".........exactly who do you think Calzaghe turned pro with and won his first 11 or 12 fights ?.....yes you got it Terry Lawless and Mickey Duff !.......i was lucky enough to pick Terrys brains in detailed conversations over many years.....i remember him once telling me the greatest talent he ever worked with was Joe Calzaghe,he also said he regretted losing him but as was well known Terry was very protective of

I thought id said if Froch could get inside and make it a war he had a good chance but if he couldnt and it became a skillful boxing match he was likely to come unstuck............................he couldnt get inside and couldnt make it a war, hence it turned out the way i thought ...if you got nothing to say about the subject we was talking mate thats fine but dont just start any old shit argument just for the sake of it.
-
Why do Calzaghe worshippers always refer back to Jeff Lacey ...he was a good prospect when Calzaghe fought him yes.....but has proved he never was real top class he couldnt take a round off Taylor or a 40 year old Roy Jones so he was hardly a scalp was he !....best fight in British boxing history it was a 1 way walk in the park !......he was defending an unbeaten record you cant deny it he doesnt even deny it himself !....he might have beaten Froch and Benn on the same night with 1 hand tied behind his back we will never know..... but for competetive spirit he wasnt in their league.
-
You call it a cheap shot i call it the truth......Calzaghe probably would of beat Froch......but sadly nobody will ever know, just the same as nobody will ever know if he could of beat Jones or a peak Hopkins.......the beauty of what Frochs done by not ducking folk and not protecting an unbeaten record is you retire knowing how good you was instead of retiring with more questions than answers......like Calzaghe has.
-
Where he go,s now i would imagine is back to the gym to try and improve and come back better thats just the nature of a fighter......he has plenty left and doesnt fear losing fights so he,s had a few losses now big deal its part of the game when you dont duck anybody and fight opponents in their prime,at least he didnt quit at the top to protect an unbeaten record like some do The trouble is when your a fighter in your heart like id imagine Froch probably is counting your money takes a boring second place to getting smacked on the chin and he can still get in great shape so why stop doing wh

Spolit little brat i used to hate them kids who had everything .................while i was stuck with 1 left hand boxing glove,1 left foot roller skate.......needless to say im right handed but my brother was tougher than me
-
Went pretty much as i thought.... Froch gave it a go he wasnt outworked he wasnt out gamed he was just well beaten on pure boxing ability theres no shame in that......His footwork looked a little slow meaning he was never in the right position to get his shots off but thats what clever fighters do they keep you off balance and looking awkward they could fight 10 times and Ward would probably find a way to beat him every time....you can match somebody for guts strength and desire but pure boxing ability will always shine through in the end. Froch is not the most gifted technically and doesnt h

Good for you son.....what a miserable bunch of b*****ds sitting moaning about commercialism and having to put your hand in your pocket ....when your kids are grown up and off hand you will have reason to moan so make the most of it while you got it !....certainly wish i could have them days back.
