So winning a world title is not good enough in your book.......if you win a world title, but then lose it at some stage, you was a shit fighter all along i suppose...............its competetive sport mate sometimes you win sometimes you lose very few fighters go through an entire career without losing.
-
I see.....thanks for the information
-
Undisputed...what exactly did you tap into the internet to come up with that ?......ive put os maps in but it just wants to sell me books etc.........cheers anyway
-
I said it real slow and you still didnt understand....................no wonder the ol " never walk alone " chant gets changed to " you,ll never get a job ".........maybe your just a little slow on the uptake up there A world class fighter will be rated in the top 10 and REGULARLY be fighting against equally rated opponents............................same as a British class fighter will be rated top 10 in the British rankings and regularly be fighting against equally rated opponents.................................its really not that complicated mate.
-
Harrison fought 1 fighter who was world class and lost easily.......just the same as your Jim Robinson or whatever his name was did against Ali.........Harrison was never rated any higher than 15th.....and never regularly fought at world level.................why would all Alis opponents be world class some of them had 20 losses to every 1 win they had ......I,ll say it slowly.......a world class fighter surely must be rated highly and be competing against equally highly rated opponents on a regular basis..................NOW REPEAT AFTER ME So Haye is a world class fighter now is he ..
-
Brookie he won a world title 5 years ago, cleaned up the cruiserweight division then moved up to heavyweight and won a world title.......................that means for the last 5 years he has been fighting at world level.....once you win a world title theres no going back to british title level opponents....how can he possibly not be a world class fighter if for 5 years he has been fighting world level opponents
-
A north south thing ..........why would Audley Harrison be looked on as a world class fighter, did he ever maintain a top 4 or 5 rating....... no.....did he regularly compete with and/or beat top world rated opponents.....no..... So tell me......why do you see Cotto as a world class fighter but not David Haye ?......Cotto/Haye have both been rated at the top of their division......Cotto/Haye have both won and lost world titles......Cotto/Haye both regularly fight the best their division has to offer usually for world titles...................................so why one and not the other ?..
-
I couldnt be arsed to find my old thread so sorry for boring any of you folks.......just need a bit of info about 2 lochs if any of you Scots or walker/camper types could be of assistance....its concerning Loch Rannock and Loch Tummel.......and if there is any way to go from south to north between the 2 lochs.....without getting wet ....i cant seem to find out and google earth aint even helping......cheers.
-
..Well now lets see......he fought for and won the world title twice......lost the world title twice.......every fight he has is against top 10 world ranked opponents involving world titles........... errrr nah we,ll just call him British class for now shall we..............................................
-
Thats the thing, todays journeymen have to put trust in promoters whereas back then you was pretty much an employee of the fighter you was sparring....or at least the manager of the fighter or the gym you was training at........the fighter you was preparing paid your wages out of his wages same as he paid his trainer and cutman etc He might get some stick but Frank Warren is an honourable man regarding money if he makes a deal he will stand on......years ago people like Astaire,Duff,Levene,Mike Barrat would pay you in drips and drabs it was hard work getting your own money back which meant if

What have you written out Alis career for......i think your being just a teeny weeny little bit silly about this now mate dont you Jim Robinson and the like, how long did they hold a top 5 world rating for ? how long was they competing with and beating other world top 5 fighters ?.... Shavers was one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history,Jerry Quarry was an excellent fighter both would of been world champions in probably any other era....so yes of course they was world class as was Holmes Frazier Foreman,Norton and all the others who fought and beat other world rated fighters
-
That dogs a lot smarter than one i had years ago who did a similar thing.......................................................to a motorbike !!......smashed f**k out of it as well lost a couple of teeth doing so,and was too dumb to look embarrassed he thought he had done well... Good clip that
-
If you really believe that then you can't know much about boxing. Look at who he has fought and beat! Dont make the same mistake i often make .....Some things are just too daft to even bother debating. 2 time world champion....an overated moron who isnt any good
-
I dont know enough about Bute to pass comment but i certainly hope Froch gives a good account of himself he has a great attitude thats very rare among top fighters today.....he doesnt fear losing fights....best of luck to him.
-
Its funny how the game has changed in that way.....years ago a good sparring partner was worth their weight in gold whereas today they take on a career of their own as journeyman i dont think the money can be anywhere near as good especially if they get knocked out they,re on a 30 day ban straight away whereas years ago we was getting paid week to week you might be up different ends of the country every week it was the " have gumshield will travel " attitude Sparring partners would have their own trainers their own contracts......Today journeymen are notching up 150 odd losses but still getti

Will a bird likely get back to completely normal flight after a wing break ? or are all birds different some will some wont ?
-
So what class opponent was he fighting ?
-
Dennis did go up to cruiserweight late on in his career....he was one of the funniest characters i ever met, also one of the gamest !.....He came over to England from Guyana as a kid we actually grew up less than a mile from each other without ever meeting till we was in our 20,s he never knew for sure how old he was he used to say he knew he wasnt any more than 3 years out He was a good man Dennis what he lacked in skills he certainly made up for with sheer strength and will to win after he got battered by Tommy Hearns he asked Manny Steward to train him.....Manny respected the guts he had sh

World class IMO means you are have sufficient skills to compete against the top 10 of your division. People like Casius Clay weren't just world class they were GREATS so using them to compare what a world class fighter should be is unfair IMO. You can only be measured along those who're fighting in your time, to judge whether you're world class. Haye and Chisora are both bonafide world class fighters. Haye has already been champion so for someone to say that he isn't world class is a bit ridiculous IMO. Bang on.....explained much better than my divvy brain could explain it
-
.....so theres another class now..." different "...........................lifes too short mate
-
Brookie i enjoy reading your posts ive never once slated Fury i forget now if he,s your brother cousin or what the relationship is but the fact i havent slated him isnt out of politeness its because i understand the times we live in hence i know Fury has a good chance of being a world class fighter....it wouldnt surprise me one bit if he picked up a world title somewhere along the line.....does that make him a great fighter of course it doesnt but what it would make him is a world class fighter in this era..... Gonetoearth you cant seem to understand that a fighter who fights at British level
-
No thats absolutely right you cannot compare eras......and for that reason theres no point saying fighters like Chisora,Haye,Fury etc are not world class because they are in todays times.....in yesterdays they wouldnt of been but we dont live in yesterdays era we live in todays. Look lets not kid ourself......guys like Fury,Price even the Klitchkos are only where they are because of their sheer size they are not there because of their skills and ability............they are good basic boxers who are extremely hard to beat.....ive been saying for years now there should be a super heavyweight di
-
Fair do,s.....i dont know enough about it so probably shouldnt be commenting to be fair.........i suppose like anything else a few pricks often spoil it for the genuine folk
-
So tell me then, whats the difference between world class, and WORLD CLASS ......i say again, this is the world we live in and there is no other world but this one.
-
Life dont work like that mate theres plenty of things id like to do but the law says i cant......you either accept that or take whatever penalty comes your way........where i live im constantly having horsey folk crawling along a public road that im paying to be on i dont even slow down for them anymore and im a respectful well mannered chap...........................just because they,re having a race dont change nothing f**k off somewhere else if they want to play silly buggers on a public road, and if they dont want to do that accept what comes with it.
