As regards actual distance covered will a sat nav/gps not just give the distance covered by road as opposed to the " as the crow flies " distance walking across fields etc ?

Ive had a bet on England but only out of loyalty......i dont really expect us to get out of the group..............in the event we go though as runners up we are likely to play Spain in the quarters.........so i think it would be some achievement to reach the semis..........

Yep it was something i looked at before doing this.......but i had to keep my feet on the ground and realise this was basically just a daft bet between mates i couldnt afford to run away with myself thinking i was an exprienced walker/hiker without first knowing if i could even manage on my own for a few days ......I still say the mental side to this sort of stuff is far harder than the physical.....West Highland Way is about 100 miles i believe,still a little bit beyond me i think using accomadation or following paths is cheating so wouldnt mind a bit more experience in my compass/map readin

I have absolutely no idea why but i had no bother with them at all.....it was something id prepared for as everyone had been telling me about them,but apart from 1 early evening spell about halfway through the week when they seemed to be everywhere ( i even broke out into a jog to get away from them ) ...wasnt a problem....had the odd few but certainly not as bad as id imagined.

If thats the reason why then its a complete joke !.....Personally i dont think our defence is the big worry Johnson Terry Lescott Cole i think is fine,maybe Micah Richards rather than the Liverpool boy...........its our midfield that bothers me Milner and Parker running round like headless chickens whos going to create anything of quality for the frontmen......i fear the same old problem of not having a player who can put their foot on the ball and look up,hence id just as sooner stick Carrol up front and bang high balls up to him as long as the midfield gets up quick enough to support him....

In 24 hours .....I cant see how thats possible.....the driving alone must be about 12 hours......and if im not wrong the summit of Ben Nevis they say allow 6 hours.......good luck to you mate .......id imagine you lose a bit of the enjoyment and it becomes a straightforward challenge race type thing when putting time scales like that on.....id feel the need to keep knobbing about taking pictures and doing peaceful deep breathing exercises

Thanks very much chaps .....Its something id probably have laughed at as a younger man but the older we get the more new challenges arise that we never really gave thought to previously and its always good to test ourself.............one day id like to be able to have the knowledge to do something like that without taking my own food ......but as a beginner to this lark i,ll keep my goals realistic You Scots might have shit football to watch up there but you certainly make up for it with that scenery.....stunning !!

Thankyou sir ......its mad the way the mind plays tricks with you....no doubt about it there was times when i thought " f**k this what am i doing this for,never again "......but when i got back home within a few days i was actually quite sad that it was over......now ive proved to myself that i can stay alive i think i,ll enjoy it even more the next time as it was always in the back of my mind that i didnt have the foggiest idea what i was doing and could really have landed myself in bother.......but with a bit more confidence next time should be all the more enjoyable.......I ended in Fort W

Nutrition wise i had a fair idea of what id get away with i had a combination of meal replacements and re-hydrated army ration type stuff it was actually a good fella off here that put me in touch with a great place for the mre,s......its amazing how nice a beef curry or chocolate chip dessert can taste out of a packet And yes Scothunter no problems with the water.....been back 5 days now and everythings normal

Just to say thanks to the good folk off here who gave me help and advice i got back off my little trip Tuesday last week it was a piece of cake really nowhere near as bad as i thought it might be.....the weather was great which helped obviously and thankfully id planned my route well enough not to get into too much bother.....i lost 12 lb in weight over the week which i was told to expect anyway,the only factor i probably underestimated a bit was the sheer boredom to the point where i was having full blown conversations with full stops and comma,s with myself !!........The beauty and sense of

Id say the gap between England and Germany/Spain is pretty much the same as the gap between Scotland and England,hence the comparison.......sure more often than not they will beat us,just like the 1 loss in 11 games proves more often than not England will beat Scotland ..........how that equates to being " much the same " as you believe they are,i dont know !

Cant be arsed to check but id guess around 11 games.....making it about 8 wins a couple of draws and 1 loss....... What a daft statement to make !.....Scotland have beat England once in the last 30 years,in the years since they last met the English league has become stronger than it was then and the Scottish league has become worse......virtually none of the Scotland first team play for the top clubs......virtually none of the Scotland first team match up player for player with the England first team...................................what possible reason is there to think there " wouldnt be much in it " between the 2 squads.

Subconsciously we all route for one team or another when watching as a neutral for any number of reasons thats just the nature of watching competetive sport.........so im a high and mighty unpatriotic person because im not all bitter and twisted towards Scotland a nation who has never done me any harm and a place and people i infact quite like ..................i think gr ch is right....its almost like you Jocks try to create something thats not really there just so nobody completely forgets about you .
