Just out of interest like.......why you say that mate ?
-
I think its all too easy to turn round and say they,re all on drugs.............i just think they have a totally different outlook to sport than for instance us Brits......apart obviously from the massive population difference they virtually pick their athletes/gymnasts out from very young based on body type i was reading about that gymnast who just got a gold i forget his name he was picked out at 3 years old because he had unnatturally broad shoulders......by 6 and 7 he could do the cross thing on the rings !!.......Also they have a far stricter approach to sport than we do they dont see it

Ok thanks Born Hunter .....Does seem like common sense to award 3 for gold 2 for silver 1 for bronze...................but i spose that would be too straightforward !
-
Dont seem right to me......so if for instance France got 2 golds and nothing else..............but GB got 1 gold 15 silver and 15 bronze.......................France finish higher in the table !!!............Sounds a bit daft if you ask me.
-
Thought he was lucky to get the decision myself but its all good onwards and upwards................ gte have you got any idea how the scoring for the medals table works ?................for example GB are currently 11th with 2 gold 3 silver 4 bronze................yet Kazakstan who have 3 golds only are 8th .......surely 1 gold cant have more value than 3 silvers and 4 bronze.............any idea how it works ?

Dont forget this one

Thankyou sir....great watch that was If you remember back then the old Clock End was the away end.....at least 3 or 4 times a season i would put on a daft northern accent ( if they was playing a northern team ) to get through the turnstyles......knowing anywhere else in the ground the risk of being recognised as a loyal Hammer was too great .......he was a great player though and worth the risk ! One of my favorites of more recent times would have to be Paolo Di Canio he represented everything of value to my own club.......skill,passion,loyalty.....after he gave this interview i said he

No i wasnt i was speaking as a football fan............many a time as a youngun id f**k West Ham off to go over to Highbury and watch Liam Brady im ashamed to say ..............He was finished by the time he got to West Ham.
-
Id be interested to know where he stands in an " all time great " list of Arsenal players Lanesra................i know in in the late 70,s early ,s he was a god like figure at Highbury i wouldnt mind betting he,s more highly thought of than Henry or Wright amongst fans what you reckon.

Is that Dennis Patterson off Auf Wiedersehn Pet on the right ?
-
Cor blimey where to start............Heart says Bobby Moore.....But head says Liam Brady.....Probably the most naturally gifted player ive ever seen........when he came to West Ham at the end of his career it was like birthdays and xmas at once for me

I see they have been disqualified ......Bit strong that......................shame the Fa didnt disqualify Mick Mcarthy for putting out a side of reserves for Wolves against Utd the other year !...........same thing surely.
-
Dont know nothing about cycling but blimey to win by that distance the boy done good.................i didnt even realise he was a London lad even better. Makes you wonder how a man built like a spider could even ride a bike let alone at that speed/distance.....some athlete fair play to him......i was always a bit disrespectful about cycling as a sport......but i guess its no different to any other endurance sport, certainly impressive to watch when you see it done well.

Thats it Jasp .....many a sunday morning stood about not really knowing what we was doing with feeler gauges i was always the one to snap the clips off the distributor cap first .....i never did understand rotor arms, top dead centre and all that carry on ! The Harrier was the " Minder Escort "....if my memory serves me correct...........or that might of been the Zakspeed one i forget now.....anyway great cars and great memories.
-
Personally i dont think anythings " going wrong "....sure we are going to have surprise victories and disappointing defeats and thats just the nature of sport.........but as a country of sports fans i think we just have to get it out of our cannisters that we are somehow ENTITLED to win !!....No different to the football be it World Cup or Europeans......Every other nation and competitor wants to win just as much as we do,they are all in every bit as good condition as we are and every bit as well prepared as we are...................so what makes British people think we only need turn up to wi

Yep fair do,s i cant argue about sports i dont know nothing about so im sure your right on the ones you mention.......of the big sports ( popularity worldwide )....id say we better them at Football,Cricket,Boxing,Athletics,Horse Racing,Golf ?..........Snooker and Darts if you accept them as sport.....and im sure many others i dont know enough about......I think it would be generally accepted we are a bigger sporting nation than them in terms of events......the Fa Cup or Premier League for example are known worldwide.....besides im always dubious of countries that have to invent their own sport

PlasticJock you got to remember as well that in any gym for every 1 Amir Khan or David Price theres 10 unknown good pros and solid journeymen quietly making a living off the game.....its not all about the stars i admire lads like Peter Mcdonagh down here still does a regular job type job but trains his bollocks off loses more than he wins but earns money doing something he loves and would willingly do for nothing.............theres far more solid pros earning a crust for being decent standard boxers than there is star prospects on the up......and your average manager of fighters will have far

Great days !! Had a mk 1 rs2000 and later on a mk 2 Mexico.......Fishnet headrests, revolution wheels, janspeed exhaust the lot .....oh the memories ! I had a mk 1 rs2000 avo sat in the garage for years rusting away......sold it some years ago for a grand only to see it go for 14k a year later.......its still around today its a top show car valued at 40 odd grand ..............another missed opportunity

Parks are for kids not dogs !...........Boils my blood when you see people exercising dogs in parks and on beeches where they know theres going to be kids. Glad the childs healthy and 1 piece
-
Absolutely right.....some nations are just far more dedicated to the cause than we are.............personally i dont think its right the way they break kids down but its not a competition of morals its a competition of sport and they do what they need to do to win who are we to say its wrong its just not how we do it..................but it dont make them cheats !
-
Not to sound like a dick.....but Born Hunter i think you have a great outlook to sport and near always find myself agreeing with your comments ...........Just out of interest have you competed yourself at anything ?......ive often found those least critical of top athletes are usually those who know what its like to compete themself.

Now you're talking . Think this was Hatchback only, a pal had a black one with a with a huge whale tail spolier on the back! I beleive this also came as standard aswel as the bonnet vents. only ever seen the 2.8 4x4's in a hatchback also but could be wrong here.... A few pictures of my old Escort RS's back late 's earley 90's... Nice pics Jasper...........im obviously a few years older than you i was an rs2000 and Mexico man myself

What was the rs500 ? Tickford? Yes it was Tickford tuned i always thought the " 500 " stood for 500 bhp ( it was around 543 i think ).......it was only a few years ago someone told me it was actually that there was only 500 made......something about they had to make 500 to qualify as group a race or something....... Serious piece of kit anyway......in any era !
-
If you look at people like Frank Warren,Dean Powell etc they want fighters with a career in front of them.......if a lad cant fight it dont matter how many tickets he can sell he,s not going to have a career and they wont make money off him long term.............and after all a managers entitled to make money, thats his job.

Nothing wrong with buying a motor from an auction.....most of the big hire mobs will put a fleet in when its coming up for its first mot.....hence 2-3 years old......but they will have serviced them more regular than average and they dont tend to skimp on anything.............if its a reps car it will normally be mostly motorway miles...... If you intend keeping it for the majority of its life and you wont be doing mental miles theres a nice few quid to be saved buying via auction.
