Your welcome mate its an interesting subject........but dont go and spoil it all with books get them boys into a gym.......and if you want to learn then you go with them
-
I couldnt agree with that dogs dont rationalise like people if a rough voiced hairy arsed c**t is all they know i dont think it matters if its a timid dog or not........i remember years ago i tried to get around a timid dog with no joy......so i sent the dog to stay at my softly spoken kind caring girlfriends place.....the dog couldnt stand her and even preferred me to her .....i think its more how you go about things than your physical presence.
-
I think you are missing the point Neems.....theres not much exercise you can do without placing a certain amount of stress on joints, skipping and jumping places stress on joints but it simply doesnt compare to the needless opening up of joints like in that clip.......when a joint is statically wide open it is at its most vulnerable......for a child that means even higher risk as the joint is still developing......the mechanics of muscle contraction means a muscle is truly strong in the negative cycle but that negative cycle when lifting certain types of weights is very short in terms of time b

Some people do prefer a shy dog.....not a physical runt of course but ive heard many good conditioners say they prefer to work with shy dogs as you become their whole focus in life and all the fears/doubts they have about the world are taken away by you once trust and a bond is formed and they will go that extra mile for you.........some are just too shy to even form a bond but thats the challenge as a dogman and in my opinion its often worth the effort.....sadly many dogs have been given up on by impatience of this nature.

Why do you think the others didnt make it mate were they smaller chicks ? did you use dummy eggs or not ?
-
Im not going to be a complete dry lunch and go all technical Neems but plyometrics is geared towards explosive speed going from contraction to extension quickly......its not geared towards static strength like those tendon eaters in the clip.....likewise press ups are not really bodyweight exercises as only 50%of the bodies weight is actually pressed and its usually combined with other athletic type maximum energy return movements such as squat jumps, box jumps, burpees etc etc....very little direct joint stress.
-
Its not always possible of course but its all part of the benefits in getting dogs off people you know and trust.....even if id not bred the litter myself id still want to see the pups regularly from about 2 weeks old....id want to know the first to open their eyes the pups who take the best teats, the first to stand etc.....right through to first to raise in the morning and last to fall to sleep later on.......and every habit and personality trait in between.......as we,ve said it can quickly become unhealthily obssessive
-
The dogs are a passion that becomes a bit of an obsession...scrutinizing litters all a part of it...in my opinion...but saying all that...the last pup i was gifted years back...was the only male in the litter...sometimes in life you just gotta take a gamble lol Absolutely....ive done it myself......sometimes you just have to have confidence that the breeding is there and have faith in that.
-
Thats what headguards are for mate.......look im not saying wrap kids up in cotton wool theres always a certain element of risk in sport.....but stuff like that clip shows is needless risk through basic lack of knowledge which cant be a good thing when training kids.....like i say we was never allowed to do heavy weight training in boxing gyms and that was 40 years ago knowledge and understanding has come on bundles since then.
-
I agree with Brindle as much as we should always try to tip the odds in our favour breeding wise so we should also do that with the litter infront of us......some people are just gifted with an eye for a pup,me i never was so always had to study litters to seek out the best made pups......i found it a thoroughly enjoyable and interesting part of keeping dogs to be honest i would get a bit obssessive and keep records, write down notes etc.......by 7/8 weeks id be confident in the pup/s i was holding back were the most vigorous, intense and healthiest pups of the litter.

Its why i have very little interest in world boxing to be honest i doubt if i could name more than a couple of top 10 fighters worldwide from each division i think the shuffling around for position that go,s on today where fighters get into contention without really doing anything is horrible......when world title bouts are being handed out to the fighter with the most devious management its a sad time for the sport........ok boxing has always been a shady business but things like this Wilder carry on strike me as being more political than business.......it seems to me that the governing bodie

oh come on mate i was just having a giggle dont get all wounded......what has boxing got to do with joint trauma ?....." should "....whenever they like would be my answer Joe......but the reason young kids are not encouraged to lift weights in boxing gyms are for the reasons ive mentioned.
-
Dont do it Francie dont do it ..............forget the training for tonight just go out for a nice swing like we did back in the day
-
Treading on egg shells as we all must and with every respect to Hughie Fury......how can Wilder possibly get away with offering a 15 fight novice who has never even won an area title a shot at the world heavyweight championship ......like Wilder hasnt already been handfed a world title he,s now going to be allowed to fight whoever he likes !
-
Oi you get in line Mik i was first......the huntinglifes version of Don King already fixed me up with first crack im just waiting to see if Fury wins before i get my plimsolls and vest out and start getting in shape as theres no point if he dont win......i always knew my chance would come again and you know what world heavyweight champions are like for taking on random strangers off the internet Ali/Liston/Foreman/Tyson they,ve all done it you know. Or shall we be a tag team ?........im probably stronger than you so you sit on my shoulders and keep him off with the jab then after 6 rounds
-
Like i said mate i dont agree one bit , never done me no harm and ive prob done more from a young age than most and its done me know harm and im sure im not the only one, but hey suppose world be a boring place we all agree Ive crossed the road without looking and it didnt do me no harm......................but it doesnt mean its right
-
Not to interrupt you boys conversation but have i read that right....you are rowing a third more than you are benching.....and pressing overhead as much as you are benching how does that work ?
-
Oh is that what it is........that silly prat Warnock aint still crying into his beer is he........... One Carlos Tevez.....theres only one............
-
The problem with gymnastic/bodyweight holds is that people think its ok for kids as theres no plates and barbells involved but its actually more damaging than if they was standing there lifting a barbell.....lifting weights is muscular strength and mostly relies on muscle....the type of exercises in that clip like the human flag relies purely on anatomical strength of tendon/ligaments (holding strength ) rather than muscular strength......when you injure a muscle the blood system requirements for repair are there and healing is quick ......when you injure a tendon or ligament they have little
-
Weight is weight it doesnt have to be a barbell with plates on the ends if its resistance its opening up joints
-
Hard as it would be to do.....if a bunch of Millwall fans jumped out on him i think id just have to turn the other cheek................what was he thinking about ! Anyway he,s probably a Villa or Burnley fan
-
Im sure there will be people who will go straight into Clint Eastwood mode after reading the dog snapped at a kid but i agree sometimes there is absolutely no badness in a dog and they just snap out of over excitement or even plain stupidity.....its a lot different to dogs that simply have bad intentions within their make up.......i wouldnt blame any man for burying this type of dog and i think it takes a real experienced and knowledgeable eye to observe the difference.......but i do think its a manageable situation and not an automatic goodbye. Enjoyable little read by the way.

Nobody could be more encouraging of kids getting into sports than me mate im all for it......but apart from the fact that ive never seen bodybuilding as a sport all im saying is hard stress on bones and joints is a no no for kids.....im all for contact sports like boxing/rugby etc etc from a young age........but not anything that is going to hinder the body in growing to its natural potential like pure strength training.

Suppose i just feel a bit of a fraud writing about dogs as i dont keep them anymore but i suppose anyones entitled to an opinion whether you still participate or not. I know what your saying....you know the best way to get all that hunger and passion for something back though dont you ?.........pack it up ! I have an excitement and energy about boxing today that i never had when i was fighting as like you say it was just a way of paying the rent ! I,ll be keeping an eye out for this Dartmoor thread anyway sounds good that.

Looks wise ive got a bit of a thing for them chocolate colour Dobermans with the cropped ears a bloke near me has one.... with its shiny coat and upright alert stance its a picture of health and an impressive looking animal.............probably about as useful as a 3 pound note when it comes to anything physical but certainly looks the part.
