    I have trained Gundogs before (Lab & GWP) But have been into Lurchers and Terriers for the last few years. Anyway i got Fudge the Cocker x 6 months ago, she is 15months old now and i have only been using her for bushing (which she does very well) with my other dogs. So i decide to get back into shooting, so 4 weeks ago i start doing some gundog training with her, now she has always had a good retreiving instinct although that was surpressed by working with the terriers, i also always use a whistle when working my dogs so that was one less thing to worry about. i was very surprised how w

    Never seen dogs with as much character as the GWP, mine sometimes had to much :wacko: when he was young. But when they settle they will hunt anything and hunt it well. (I miss haveing one) I think Alfie is full of drive and hunting instinct and will make a powerful hunting alrounder when he learns to channel his energy, but having said that he seams to have come on alot since i have seen him last and the more training you get into him over the summer the more mature he will be next season.     Alfie's looking well mate, he reminds me of my old dog with his strength and stature and he was as mad as a box of frogs until he was 2 so Alfie has plenty of time to steady to his work. I think he will make a good alrounder on the fell and working with the Ferrets and I am pleased to see his retrieving is coming on well, I just need to get a Shotgun in your hand now mate and we will show him some work. Carnt wait until he is a regular member of the team. Dave.

    It was the Last meet of the season for the Weardale & Tees valley Beagles, so me and Pointer traveled down to a joint meet with the Stokesley Farmers. The Hounds found very early and took off screaming, the scent was very good and they even trailed over reciently burnt heather. It was a pleasure to hunt such stunning country The action was none stop as the Stokesley farmers had kept some fine land for us to hunt. In all we had 4 hunts taking nearly 5 hours, both packs worked well together. It was an excellent hunt to end the season a

    Out early Morning with Pointer and his Lurcher Tess, Put my Lurcher Paddy in the truck and we headed up to the Reed beds. The scent was poor at first and the dogs had there work cut out, they were working hard and covering alot of ground, but it wasnt long before Tess had them on the move. As the land warmed up the scent improved and the dogs hard work started to pay off. The dogs were working well together and a respectable bag was taken as not much was lost. Dave.
