  3. I am caught between a rock and a hard place, i have just aquired a new farm which has a good size pond / lake on it , i have permission to shoot all quarry but the farmer wants the Canada geese gone, he had tried to scare them off with no sucsess, i would prefer to wait until the season, but he wants them off now, i have checked with the BASC and have the OK, the main reason i would like to wait until September is there is also a good number of Greylag mixed in with the Canada What do you think ? and dose anyone else shoot the Canada off there Flight ponds. ATB Dave.
  4. Yeh i have checked it out with the basc and it ok as the land owner has been trying to scare them away for long enough, but the is a healthy population of Greylag in with the Canada so di i just take out a few Canada to keep the land owner happy or do i wait until the season Dave.
  5. I have just got some new permission with a lake on it, the farmer wants the Canada's shot and as tempting as it is, i think waiting until the season is the safer option, just to be sure. What you think Dave.

  9. I do keep basic hunting / shooting notes in a book season by season, i also put in mile stones that each dog i train crosses and how the perform when i start working them, this can be handy when bringing on a young dog to see if its on track against others i have trained at the same age, but you have to remember that all dogs are different and mature at different rates, so compairing to much is not always the best thing. Good luck with her training. ATB Dave.
  10. Thanks lads, she is a real athletic type of Lab, which i love. She has excellent staminar which is good because she is mainly used for hunting up and she dosnt get many retreives because of my bad shooting at the minuet ATB Dave.
  11. Cheers Ricky mate, she has turned out fine for me, i like to keep her real close when hunting, mainly because of my bad shooting but i also hunt alot of thick woodland and a close dog is needed, the only down side i am finding of this is she can be a bit reluctant to go for the longer retrieves and i have to push her out with the whistle before she will range that far, but you can not have it always i supose. As for her breeding she is out of the Shadowbrae dog Cardykeas A fast stylish Tialing dog and her Dam is Stockiemuir Primrose, Keepers dog and sucsessful Trialing dog in her own right,
