  11. Exactly, mine comes in for an hour or so after i work them, they get a warm meal then a lie in front of the fire and as above it gives me a chance to check them over. Dave.
  12. My Lab was on cold game blind retrieves when she 6 months and i started shooting over her at 7 months. When i say shooting over her, i mean i would take her out for an hour, have her hunting up, shoot 1 rabbit then go home. I steadily increased the time and shots over her until she was a year. She is 1.5 years now and this season she will be worked fully on pheasants although i will still only have her hunting up rabbits for about up to 3 hours Good luck with there training. Dave.
  13. Nice 1 pal, good way to end the day. Dogs are looking well. ATB Dave.
  14. You dont want to put him over a bitch just because she is yours and you own them both, the stud must complement the bitch and vice versa. Take your time, he is young and needs to mature himself first, get as much training into him and as much hunting as you can, if you can get him on a few beating lines that will help and if his work rate impresses people then you will find a few offers may come your way. ATB Dave.
  15. They are some nice looking working labs lab-tastic. If you think they need weight on look at mine Fern is very athletic and fast and very hard hunting She is only 1.5 years so there is time for her to fill out, but i hope she never changes. ATB Dave.
  16. He looks a handsome fella , good luck with him. ATB Dave.
  17. Handsome is as handsome dose and if the dog works well for you, what else matters. ATB Dave.
  18. Not having a go mate, but do you really know what his line is. I would say put up a few pics, some close of him and some of him working. Also what kind of work is he doing and can others vouch for him. And lastly at 16 months it is still too young to say how good he really is. Thats not to say he is not a good working dog and i look forward to looking at your reply mate. ATB Dave.
  19. Cracking pics HH and a good result Dogs are looking well. ATB Dave.
  20. I totally agree pal, good luck. ATB Dave.
  21. My Dogs are worked and also family pets, they live outside but come in the kitchen for a few hours on a night, especaly in the dark nights. My lab is an outstanding family dog, never chewed much in the house very clean and great with the kids, but so was my old GWP and Spaniel, so i would look at what breed suits you in the hunting field and your personal choice first and family pet second because most Gun dog breeds will make good pets as long as they get the correct excersise (except maybe the Weimeraner as some i have seen were not suited to children). Good luck with your choice. Dav
  22. Thanks for the replys lads. Fern is a Year and a half now mate and turning into a nice little versatile dog. ATB Dave.
  23. Bonnie looking pup mate, good luck with its training. ATB Dave.
